Cleander is the Astronomy Professor and Gryffindor's Head of House. Before coming to Hogwarts, he spent years as a researcher at the Magical Observatory of Alexandria, in Egypt. Imagine this as being one of the hotspots for astronomy in the magical world, where all things The Cosmos are researched.

As a teacher, Cleander likes to be chill and fun and wants to make his students passionate about astronomy.

What he does hate, though, is Astrology and students may soon find out, as his ex just took up a position as the Divination professor.

oh all I have is Ella, who is very into his class! I think she's going to enjoy it!

and Mason of course, experienced teacher and Puff HoH :D He and Mason were also in the same year, though different houses obviously, so may know one another from there!

Otherwise if he's publishing papers he might have reason to interact with Juliana Ainsworth who is publishing adjacent (brother owns a bookshop, husband runs the library, she is an author but secretly) or Victor Daphnel who in life enjoyed academic circles & especially math / spell theory. Victor's dad is also a "researcher" but that's just code for "likes academic hobbies more than he likes people" haha.

Millie would be in his classes, and his would be her worst class this year. I haven't come up with why yet, maybe she's just not enough of a night owl or thinks it's boring. She has just this year and next to get her grades up to E-worthy for her OWLs, so perhaps there's room for a tutoring thread or finding out what makes astronomy not click for her.

I want c. current thread on a day off! I'm guessing that Cleander can go to Hogsmeade on weekends pretty much without issue, especially since in canon it seems like Astronomy takes place only once per week (and makes sense since students need to pull all nighters lol).

I'm in for throwing Cleander and Juliana/Victor together! With Juliana especially, maybe they could discuss some Astronimical theory as to why werewolves are affected by the moon and not some other astral body in particular?

I have Dru here - who as of this year - is his coworker. Additionally they also had some overlap at Hogwarts as Dru attended from 64' to 71'. But if I math right she was in her fourth year when he started. It'd be neet to decided how they get along.

I don't think any of my older students take his class but Serpentine Malfoy as a first year would!

  

So I have Gus, the DADA professor. He was a curse breaker for over a decade, primarily in Egypt, so I would say these two have a strong possibility of a friendship?

I also have “Chuntao Chang” who I’m not sure would feel about his class lol.

I have two students; Greta Gillenwater (OWL), and Morgan Valenduris (Firstie).

Morgan likes astronomy, and the science and logic of it - and is driven to learn more about it because of it's links to potion making since shes currently chosen her dream and future profession off her fathers. She loves the outdoors so defineately loves the practical component and is probably bound to interact with the professor at least on the behalf of Hyacinth Valenduris and potential accomodations once she gets over her being embarrassed at being a Valenduris.

Greta is in his House, and was recently made Seeker... she also is very competitive and tries greatly to be a teachers pet, with mixed results because she also can't mind her own business and is just a bit too curious. She idolises all her teachers for they can't do no wrong and I imagine her HOH is probably fairly up there though when it comes to astronomy she probably finds some comfort because its the most mugglelike class though isnt likely to chose a profession that revolves around the skies.
