Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Crouch for Minister?
Aldous Crouch Announces Candidacy

Mr. Aldous Crouch, 38, of Hogsmeade, has announced his candidacy for Minister of Magic.

This likely comes as a surprise to some who remember his brother, Mr. Roman Crouch, offered in the election of 1887. However, Mr. Aldous Crouch may be a formidable candidate in his own right.

Having led the Ministry's Department of International Magical Co-Operation since 1886, Mr. Crouch believes that his "international experience and connections gives him a unique position" within this election. Indeed, he has spent the majority of his career interacting with foreign dignitaries and collaborating with foreign magical powers resulting in such events as the Pan-Magical games (1885) and multiple Quidditch World Cups.

(The World Wizarding Fair, too, occurred under his tenure, and was a well-organized and attended event until the disasters it wrought.)

In his private life, Mr. Crouch married last year.

Wizengamot member Gaius Malfoy has already declared his support for Mr. Crouch, the elder brother of Mrs. November Malfoy.

Body Found
Believed to be Missing Student

Though evidence of the tragedy of Miss Sloane Bixby all pointed to her having drowned in the lake, reports of a body have finally confirmed the death of the sixteen year old. Previously, remnants of her broom have been located on the lake’s edge, but now, nearly a month after her accident, a body was discovered washed up on the far side of the lake.

“The figure and hair color fits that of Miss Bixby,” said Chief Constable Gallagher. “Family members are confident that despite the bloating and obvious signs of decay caused by extended time in the water that we have finally recovered the body of Miss Bixby.” Chief Gallagher was mum on details of what would come next, but hopes to provide closure for the Bixby family soon.

The flying ban set into place as a result of her death remains in place. “It is not what she would have wanted,” says her mother, Fiona Bixby, who is a member of the Broom Regulatory Office herself. “There was nothing Sloane enjoyed more than flying and she would be right there along with protesters trying to get the ban lifted.” Though there appears to be no end in sight for the ban, the Bixby family is hoping everything is resolved soon.
