Did you know?

First names were most often used by childhood or school friends. If the friendship was made after school age, first names would only really be used by women. Men were far more likely to refer to their friends by their surnames, a mark of familiarity. — Documentation

WANTED:

Carson Bixby for Sloane Bixby. You can take the middle-aged man out of quidd—oh, apparently you can't.
Separating was also not a great idea, though they weren't doing great at staying together anyway. If she were to volunteer to be the human sacrifice.. well... Hogsmeade had plenty of debutantes anyway...

May 12, 1888 - Honeyduke’s Sweet Shop
Acacia was having a lovely time at Honeyduke’s as she and a few other students shuffled about the shop. It was one of the few trips to Hogsmeade that she had participated in since going back to school. After all, the first term of the year was like an all too long, and stressful, Hogsmeade ‘weekend’.

Still, it was nice to be back in Hogsmeade. Enjoying the familiar surroundings, the nice shops. And getting to buy a treat was one thing that she was looking forward to. It had taken her some time as she gazed over the shelves, smiling softly as she considered her many options.

Finally coming to the conclusion that she should go with something sweet and light, she reached for one of the candies just as another person had the very same idea. Bumping hands, she looked up at the man, smiling apologetically. “My apologies.” She said kindly. How clumsy of her.

Spirits had been high after Puddlemere's first match against Wimbourne and Thomas was certain their match against the Appleby Arrows on May 11th was going to be just as easy to beat. Thomas was playing at Appleby's stadium which put the team at an immediate disadvantage and every time one of their chasers scored, a volley of arrows was shot into the air. It rather dangerous and extremely distracting, Thomas thought.

Alas, unfortunately, Appleby won and Thomas was adamant it was anything but Puddlemere not playing at their finest. He'd scored a few quaffles with his new broom though that was nothing to the snitch being caught by the opposing team.

It was demoralizing, annoying and, above all else, it was frustrating. They'd ended the last season on a high note and started this one on a high note but now they'd lost against some northerners who shot arrows from their wands. Show-offs.

Thomas had decided it would be best to let off steam and though his mind immediately went to the casino-variety, Thomas elected to go to Honeydukes instead to put himself in a candy coma. That was, eat so much candy that you pass out from pure sugar-induced euphoria. It was as good as playing Quidditch, really.

When he entered the store, the Chaser noticed it was full of school children. He sighed and moved over to a basket of chewie snakes in the hopes he wouldn't be noticed. He picked up a paper bag and reached to grab some candy.

As he did so, someone else's hand brushed against his own and be pulled back, looking at the intruder. She was quick to apologise.

Thomas smiled back, "It's alright, miss." Thomas lulled his head slightly, "You from 'Ogwarts, then? You on your day out?"

He might as well make small talk whilst standing away from the crowd; it saved him being recognised by others.

To be honest, quidditch was not Acacia's strong suit in knowledge. But who ever said that Ravenclaws had to know everything. Well, besides some Ravenclaws. Though this was besides the point. Not knowing much about what happened in professional quidditch games, she barely had knowledge of her own school's quidditch games. This did lead her to not really recognize him.

Glad to see that he was smiling back, it seemed that he was not upset by the interaction so far. "I am, Hogsmeade weekend is nice. Are you enjoying your day?" She asked.

“Always when I’m eatin’ sweets,” Thomas smiled half-heartedly. And it was true to an extent; candy was the cornerstone of a healthy and happy, well, Thomas. The problem was, he wasn’t exactly feeling cheerful. It was nice that this girl didn’t seem like most obnoxious school children he’d encountered that practically swooned when they realised who he was.

And it was either she didn’t know who he was or just didn’t care. Thomas didn’t mind today, though. Especially not after their loss.

Looking at his hand, Thomas let go. He couldn’t take candy from a child. That seemed cruel.

“You can ‘ave it, miss. There’s plenty more. I remember when I used to come to ‘ogsmeade when I was at school. It was always fun. You not wiv your friends?”

Though his statement claimed happiness, his eyes showed that he wasn't fully committed to that statement. Curious as to why that was, she slightly wondered if it was her own doing. Most likely, that wasn't the case. Perhaps a friendly conversation would help improve his mood. She was quite willing to help improve someone's day.

Acacia wasn't too proud of the fact that she had almost no knowledge of quidditch, including not knowing what the teams names were, let alone the names of players. Glancing at the movement of his hand from the candy they had both reached for, she glanced back at him.

"Thank you. And no, I'm not with friends currently. I can always spend some time with them later when I have more free time again."

“You’re welcome,” Thomas said, nodding in acknowledgement to her words, “And you can – time to yourself is always good. Er, it’s good for explorin’ and stuff, Miss.” He smiled softly.

He didn’t necessarily want to talk to people right now but, again, this girl did seem friendly and it would be rude to be, well, rude to a school child.

“So, what ‘ouse you in? I was a Gryffindor.” He asked.

He wasn’t entirely sure how to converse with someone who was still in school so he supposed small talk would suffice for now.

When he said miss, Acacia realized that she hadn't actually introduced herself. "I'm Miss Acacia Ruskin, by the way. Apologies for not introducing myself sooner." She said politely.

It wasn't as though she didn't want to spend time with her friends, but she also wasn't the type to hover over them constantly. Though, she would do that to her sisters from time to time.

"I am in the Ravenclaw house." She replied. What had it been like to go into Hogwarts before she had gone? There must have been a few different professors, would the house elves had been the same? Acacia knew of one house elf that was slightly troubled in the mind.

“Pleasure, Miss Ruskin,” Thomas smiled sweetly toward the girl. She was very polite – which was always pleasant. It was making his a day little better to say the least.

Once she’d said about being in Ravenclaw, Thomas rolled his eyes and practically scoffed, “Hah! Ravenclaw. So I guess you’re a bit smart then, Miss? I ain’t too smart, but I am good at Quidditch. Apparently.”

Nodding politely, she was glad to see his smile turn more genuine. "A pleasure to meet you as well, Mr.... Oh, pardon my manners once more. I don't believe I caught your name." She responded softly. Embarrassment made her cheeks burn slightly. Where had her manners gone in the first place?

When he rolled his eyes over her statement, her own eyes widened slightly. "Well, I'm not sure about smart. My friends call me creative though. I suppose it's true. I love to paint, and write." She said shyly, the blush only got worse as a mixture of feelings over this conversation flustered her greatly.
