Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1896. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

One of the cheapest homeless shelters in Victorian London charged four pennies to sleep in a coffin. Which was... still better than sleeping upright against a rope? — Jordan / Lynn

It had, of course, been his idea. After all, he had argued, how could the students truly become invested in dueling, eager participants with a thirst to learn, if it was not modelled for them? True, as he had looked at the names of the participants Nik had been skeptical as to whether this would be good modelling, but at the very least, the students would be in for a bit of fun.
“I expect a clean duel,” the professor remarked to his colleagues with a wry smile. The advantage of working with adults in this capacity is that they could simply be provided with a copy of the rules in advance—saving him both time and tedium. “Professor Wenlock, please begin!”
Ainsley had signed up on a whim. While Arthimancy may have been her forte, she had still done rather well as a student through her younger years.
A small nod was given to Professor Sleptov before turning to Professor Yi and givin him a nod and bow as well. She then brought her wand up and cast a spell wot the intention of turning the gentleman's hair a vibrant shade of pink.
Going through the proper greeting things, Tae-min cast a disarming spell. Not that he would have minded pink hair but he did want to see if he could win at least one round.
Ainsley hardly seemed perturbed that she hadn't won the round. She raised her wand and cast a shield charm. Perhaps Professor Yi's spell would rebound upon himself.
This time, the Transfiguration professor found success with a shield charm. Nik awarded her the second point, and directed her to begin the tie-breaker. The students watching, he noted wryly, seemed invested; the wizard wondered how many had wagered their pocket change on this tournament.
