Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Five Ladies, Five Gentlemen
#1
THE SITUATION: A near-death experience will remind Julius that life is painfully short, and his family line ends with him and OH GOD HE HAS NO MARITAL PROSPECTS AND NEITHER DOES HIS SISTER.

THE SOLUTION: A week of "dates", assessing potential brides.

THE NEED: YOUR DEBS <3 Also bachelors (see below)

Julius Scrimgeour bounced back from repeated problems caused by his sister (Bella Scrimgeour) and, to a larger degree, his late, criminal father. Now thirty, he realizes he really does need to get married and really, he is out of excuses. He was in love once (@"Eloise Manwaring") and does not think he ever will be again, but he does want a partner—someone on the same page, with whom he can grow to share mutual respect and friendship.

The threads would be set during the last week of July or first week of August, but start sooner than later. Over 24 need not apply unless otherwise stated. I am looking for the following candidates:

  • The Fresh Face: New to Society in the 1892 season! (UCAB)
  • The Widow: Early to mid-twenties and widowed. (UCAB)
  • The Disaster: Someone who is as far from suited to Julius as possible. (UCAB/MCPB)
  • The Climber: Someone from a less illustrious UC family (maybe with some scandal of their own), OR someone from a MC family looking to propel her status higher. (MCAB/UCAB)
  • Good on Paper: Everything about her breeding, dowry, accomplishments, etc. should be perfect. Whether she is, though, that's another story. (MCPB/UCAB)

I recognize that wishes don't always come true—feel free to chuck others at me; while I'd prefer these roles, I'll take what I can get xD

Next up, we have Araminta Scrimgeour, who someone really should play (pretty please!):

Show

At twenty-three, she's no spring chicken, but Julius maintains that her unmarried status is a product of her unfortunate circumstances, not her lack of grace or character. He will be endeavouring to find the Perfect Match (on paper/in his eyes, at least) before the summer is out so that she does not have to suffer the indignity of a Season at four-and-twenty.

Again, looking for an in-law-hurling-week! Threads set first or second week of August. All candidates should be UC and 28+ unless otherwise specified.

  • Julius Seeking Public Future: This character should be very much in the public eye, though positively so. Think Ministry head, quidditch sponsor, etc.
  • Julius Seeking Quiet Future: This character is decidedly not in the public eye, though not in a weird way.
  • Julius Not Seeking, but Considering: This character wasn't actively sought out by Julius, but they got to talking and now is being Assessed anyways.
  • Man Seeking Hot Young Thing: Older gentleman (45+), likely a widower, who wants a Young Wife™
  • Man Seeking Minty, Specifically: Your character approached Julius. Maybe he was taken by Minty at some event or another, maybe he's taken by the dowry—up to you! (Can be MC)

Open to marriage to NPC? Let me know as this is a huge bonus <3 Also if you have bachelors/widowers who don't necessarily conform to the above, I'll take a gander at them, too!
