In her right mind, Ada would have preferred to have had the company of one or both of her brothers, if only to serve as an excuse to cut the interlude short or at least distract from what ought to have been a highly uncomfortable exchange. Ada was not in her right mind though and was very pleased to be without either of them. They would probably get in the way, they wouldn't understand how she felt about him now and this way neither would have to feel like a third wheel. "No, I'm very much by myself today."
