That does seem like the sort of thing that might have come up, from one or the other of them. Certainly my closest friend would tell me if he was engaged (at least I think so — but it's never been tested so he may well be engaged as we speak without my knowing it; do you think I should write him and ask?) I've never been particularly close to my brother but I do believe he too would tell me about impending marriages, mostly because he might think I would need a good deal of advanced notice to appear respectable enough to attend the event. Which of your brothers is it?
