Emmeline stared at him in clear shock. First, because of his cruel joke at the expense of his poor owl. She was going to have to see about simply stealing him for herself so that when he did die it was with peace and love unlike whatever it was Charlie had to offer to him. And then because he'd caught on to her blush and her cheeks only turned an even more brilliant shade of red.

She quickly looked away, closed her eyes, and clamped her lips shut. She opened her mouth to speak again but couldn't actually find the words and closed her mouth again. Surely she looked like a gaping fish in those moments but she simply didn't know what to say in regards to it all. Oh she'd just throttle Sherry for putting any such thoughts in her mind to begin with. Clearly it was her friend's fault for even getting her thinking such a train of thought.

"I.. I.. That's not what I meant," she managed to get out but not very convincingly as she still couldn't even meet his gaze, "I just meant.." She didn't know what she meant and that was clear so she simply closed her lips again and didn't continue.
