Torie's lips curled into a conspiratorial smile at the thought. "Well, I may have to hide them in my room and you may have to continue to supply the books themselves, but I did ask." She couldn't risk scandalizing her mother or one of her sisters who would certainly struggle to keep their mouths shut or from showing their disapproval.
If she found she didn't like the book or hadn't learned anything from it, there was no great loss. Even reading something you didn't care for often taught something useful, otherwise she would have never picked up a transfiguration textbook. "I will have to get some sort of cover," she mused aloud. "You're turning me into a delinquent in my own home, Mr. Echelon-Arnost." She teased, nudging him lightly with her elbow to say she was just kidding; Torie needed absolutely no help with that in the past.
