Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Committee on Voting Reform
#1
Oz's main Campaign Promise ™ was creating a committee on voting reform and he intends to follow through!

The committee will be comprised of 10-12 people, but the majority of them will be NPCs so that site staff can massage the direction if needed xD That said, I think it'd be fun to have a few members as played characters! It gives you something to reference in your threads, might create interesting tensions between you and other members of the committee, gives you opportunities to thread with Oz, maybe gives you interesting interactions with other people who have strong feelings on The Vote, etc.

Oz is looking for some mix of these kinds of people: *
- old guard politicians / Wizengamot members
- current Ministry employees (in some degree of leadership position, eg Assistant Heads or Squad Heads etc - probably not the "big deal" department heads because they'll be busy :P )
- people active in the scholarly/academic community
- important members of the community
- people active in business (owners of prominent Hogsmeade/Diagon shops, import/export moguls, etc)
- at least three women
- at least two MC people
- at least one muggleborn witch/wizard

Additionally, anyone on the committee must be 25+ yo with a good reputation and two human(ish) parents (creature/being ancestry of 1/4 or less does not automatically disqualify you but also isn't a great start). Your character should also be able to devote ~5 hours a week to committee business, some of which will be at the Ministry, so if your main career doesn't give you freedom of movement (cough cough Hogwarts professors) you're out. You'd also have to be interested in participating, no one is getting forced into it :P

This is not a first-come first-serve thing as Oz would be hand picking all the committee members, but even if you're not selected there's thread potential for Oz to chat with you and decide he doesn't like you Wink Even if Oz does like you, if Lucius Lestrange is inclined to outright veto your participation Oz would probably not fight for you to be included, because he is invested in keeping Lestrange happy so that whatever the committee recommends has a snowball's chance in hell of actually passing the Wizengamot and becoming law xD

IC Timeline: Oz would be searching around for people in November, getting the committee formalized and approved and whatnot in December, and hopefully they'd start actually doing things in January. Wrenches thrown in plans may delay that, we'll see. That's his plan xD

* if your character might be specifically recommended, by name, by either Lucius Lestrange or Jude Wright that gives you a leg up but does not guarantee you're in.

PEOPLE ON THE COMMITTEE FOR SURE:
Gaius Malfoy
Locklyn MacCoinnich (bc Oz needs a spy on the committee >>)
Laurel Potts
— @"Fallon Hatchitt"
Henry Berkwood
Mariana Macnair
