Love The Veela, Fear The Veela

March 24th, 1888 — Magical London
There were benefits of having a wizard husband. One of such benefits was being able to travel more at ease, which was quite nice when Juniper wished to shop in particular places. She would meet with her husband once more in a few hours, given that men typically didn't have much interest in jewelry from her observation. And while jewelry was the subject, she had just walked out of a jewelry store, when she stopped to examine her beautiful new, shiny necklace.

Sadly, someone else found it very beautiful as well, and she knew this for a fact when the necklace was snatched from her hand and she was pushed down. Scrambling to her feet, she yelled, "Thief! Thief," pointing towards the individual as they ran. Grabbing the closest man that was passing her, because she was a lady and she wasn't about to go running after a criminal. "Sir, please, you must go after that thief!" She exclaimed hurriedly.

Albert Pettigrew

Albert was a serious man, and serious men had no time for dramatic displays of affection. The most affection he'd displayed towards anyone was likely the whores he slept with from time-to-time, and even that was because of passion, not love or anything like that. Nevertheless, even a man as serious as him couldn't avoid the effects when dealing with the most beautiful creature known to man: a veela.

He hadn't even noticed the woman — no, the creature — through the crowd of other men and woman who were shuffling down the street until a clear path was created when a pick-pocketing thief pushed through and robbed the redhead. He stopped in front of her and, upon looking her in the eye, simply froze. He made no attempt to do as she said — hell, he likely didn't even remember what she'd said.

"Beautiful thing," he breathed, gazing intently at her flawless features. Suddenly, his hand snapped and grabbed her wrist, his mind skipping any over thought of propriety or even basic human politeness.

If her mind was not so focused on the theft of her shiny new jewelry being robbed from her, she would have surely noticed the dumb, though slightly amusing, look on the man's face. Right now, however, she wanted her shiny back. And she wanted it back now. Oh men, they were the much more... likeable portion of the species. After all, human women were utterly useless and terrible annoyances.

But now the man in front of her was being utterly useless, and that would just not do. "I need help. Make me happy and get me back my shiny necklace!" She exclaimed. Of course she wouldn't act this 'childish' if she had gotten what she wanted the moment she asked, especially when it involved something shiny.

Well of course she was beautiful, but she was not a thing. As well as this, the fact that he had the very nerve to touch her, especially when she was this upset, was not making her very happy. She didn't want to get too upset. At least this wasn't the normal part of London, or she would be in big trouble if she got too upset. Tugging her wrist from his grip, she pointed again to the thief's trail.

For such a pleasant-looking woman, she wasn't very pleasant-sounding at all. Frustrated by her sudden rejection (or at least what he viewed as a rejection), Albert grabbed her wrist once more — a bit more tightly than before — and tugged her closer to him. He couldn't even move his eyes away from her, let alone turn and run away from her.

"Don't worry about that," he insisted hoarsely. "I'll buy you a knew shiny necklace, how about that?" The way he spoke suggested that he was telling rather than offering; there was no way he was about to leave her side.

Oh no, Juniper was not OK with this. Never OK with being told what to do, or being grabbed. However, there was a brief feeling of fear that rushed through her. Being pulled against someone, especially like this, made her feel threatened. Of course, she didn't want anyone to see such fear, especially the man causing it. Instead, she let the rage consume her instead.

Screaming in anger, she felt the change immediately. Well, this was not how she wanted her day to go. Perhaps she should have dragged Andrew with her to go shopping. Pushing him off her, hard. She shrieked at him. Then sense started to reason with her. Even men had their malfunctions, and that was exactly what this man was experiencing, a malfunction. Deep breaths, and soon she changed back. "Pathetic! You are pathetic!" She growled. Oh, she was still gonna be bitter, she had every right. She still hadn't gotten what she wanted.

What was at first visible lust turned to fear and anger when the woman's — the veela's — form became apparent. Letting go of her immediately, Albert's immediate shock was to shove the bird-like creature away from him. It was incredible how such a beautiful woman could become such a horrifying creature with just a bit of anger.

The moment he became aware of what she was, the moment he knew he had to snap back to his senses. His brothers were already awful enough with their decisions; the last thing he needed was to fall victim to his own primal instincts and make a fool of himself — and soon. He snapped his gaze to the ground, trying to even avoid her shoe-covered feet with his eyes.

"You need to go back to the Forbidden Forest, or wherever you came from originally."

Being disrespected further was not helping his case. Perhaps a fireball to the face would make him see some sense. However, she was a smart girl, despite what Begonia thinks. There was no way that she would be spoken to by someone so stupid. "You are fully useless. And if my husband had seen you lay a hand on me, you would be much more sorry than you are now." She growled.

Looking around briefly, she huffed. Once again returning her gaze to him, the annoyance stuck more. "And the thief got away. I suppose you're happy now. You should be arrested for aiding a criminal." She snapped bitterly. The veela personally felt that he was also a criminal for letting her shiny get away.

Her words (which were very ironic considering his own backstory) were the only thing that managed to bring a smirk to his face and his eyes back to her face. He fought the appeal of her features, instead choosing to repeat the mindless laws of the wizarding world in his head. She was still beautiful beyond belief, he reminded himself, but she was also a bitch.

"As a former lawyer, I can assure you such a case would never hold up," he responded coldly. "And if you don't leave, I'll have you impounded and examined by the Research Committee." It was a lie, but hopefully such a threat would scare the veela off.

Huffing, she thought for a moment before another thought occurred to her. "You did attack me, violently grab me. I pushed you in order to defend myself." She claimed, a hint of her own smirk growing on her face. Glancing at her wrist, she looked at it thoughtfully. "The only reason I'm not bruised is because I'm perfect, and anyone would understand that." She said with a gentle shrug, looking back up at him innocently. Wizards were stupid, with the rare exception of her husband and their perfect children of course.

"You're a veela," he hissed, straightening his coat and his hat, which had almost fallen off his head in the midst of his lust. "No charges would hold up against a man who suffered from your sinful tactics. You seduce men and you use them — they'd prosecute you if it wasn't part of your nature," he responded, eyes searching for a clock. "I must be going. Get out of London before you hurt someone — a wizard, a muggle, whoever."

Glaring daggers at him, she would not stand for such claims. "I was not seducing you." She said, her voice dripping with complete disgust. "I am married, and I absolutely adore my husband. You could never even hope to compare to him. You are disgusting and pathetic, and grabbed me. I begged for help, and you thought up some pathetic fantasy. One that I would never allow to happen." She growled. In truth, she did have the concept of moral views, after all she was raised with proper muggles. Morals were high on priorities for her, despite what close-minded wizards thought.

"Adore your husband," he mocked under his breath. Veela would sleep with whatever men they wanted; they were creatures without morals and women without any sense of propriety. He couldn't believe that any one of them — not even Mrs. Mohr — could be capable of full civility. Shaking his head, Albert made sure to keep his gaze off her as he moved.

"I have no time to argue. Goodbye, Missus," he stressed, walking in the complete opposite direction from her, all the while feeling that uncomfortable urge to move back to where he'd been standing. Not today, though.
