An Elf walked into a Classroom
#1
September 27th, 1888 - Earth Magic Classroom
Had you asked the house elf thirty seconds ago if he could ever fall in love with a human, it would have been a profound ‘no’ followed by a scoff, some laughter, and finally an insult to wizardkind in general before he would have promptly disapparated to some undisclosed location to do some cleaning or annoy Phineas Black.

Of course, that was thirty seconds ago. A lot can change in thirty seconds.
And as Woopy, curious as he ever was, opened the pink envelope and tried to read the words on the parchment (not that he could though he liked telling himself he understood the words), a most peculiar feeling overcome his entire body. His complete spirit.

It was the undeniable turn in his stomach that made him yearn.
The indescribable feeling of complete wanting.
A sensation that could be described only as the breathlessness felt when drowning in a sea of desire.

It was love.
He was in love.
And love felt fantastic.

He had to tell her.
Show her.
It could work.
It would work.

They would wed and grow old together and there would be no scandal because society would see how true his feelings were.

As he looked down at the paper with a glean in his eyes, a few students watched on in confusion. They’d never seen him smile before.

In truth, Woopy had never seen himself smile. But now… now things had changed beyond all reason.
He looked up and apparated to her classroom, leaving the letter to fall daintily to the castle floor…

It was late afternoon and there appeared to be a class on... though he didn't care.

The dim hue of the golden light shone through the windows and seemingly illuminated her. She was beautiful.
No, it was more than that.
She was angelic.

He walked across the classroom as a wet sponge materialised in his hand. He would give her a gift to declare his love.

And he did.
Throwing the sponge on the parchment she was writing on, Woopy then leapt onto the desk and dropped down to sit directly in front of her; his eyes wide and dream-like, his lips turned into an unfading smile.

“You pretty,” He declared softly to Eleanor Rigby, “Woopy like pretty things.”

She was minding her own business, going over papers, making notes on things. Her students were busy writing an essay so when the sound of an apparating someone came into the room, she barely noticed. That's how deep in thought she was, thinking about the geodes she found when she was out walking this morning and how they'd be perfect catching the light by one of her windows. She was supposed to be working, but sometimes her mind wandered.

It wasn't until something wet plopped on her parchment and started soaking into the ink she'd just written that Eleanor realized what the sound was. Apparition. But it wasn't a person.

It was a house elf.

One who was staring at her quite besotted. With big watery, shimmery eyes and a scrunchy face with ears. She'd never really focused on house elves before, having been in a middle class family in Ireland, they just weren't things that were in her family.

So when he spoke and called her pretty, Ellie's eyes widened. "Excuse me?" she squeaked, trying desperately to not draw attention from her students, and quite likely failing. More than one head was picking up from staring down at their desks and whispers were starting.

Well bollucks. "What are you doing here?" she asked politely. "I don't remember asking for food or anything."

The way she spoke; the way her words wisped from her lips and danced with his ears, it was mesmerising. No, it was more than that. It was captivating and enchanting. Her voice was enthralling, awe-inspiring. It was, by all accounts, absolutely and completely entrancing.

Woopy let out a long, drawn out contended sigh as she said about food and all he could muster in response was to lull his head to the side and reach his hands out to take a hold of hers before speaking quietly once again and jumping onto his feet; his left foot standing on the sponge, causing water to spurt in all directions.

“You wrote to Woopy,” Woopy moved closer to her with his big blue eyes and he could feel himself falling for her further than he once fell down that ditch that one time he could barely remember, “and Woopy want write back but Woopy cannot write,” he frowned and looked briefly to the floor; suddenly finding himself to be quite embarrassed by the fact.

It didn’t taken long for the sadness to drift away though as no sooner had he looked down, had he perked up and snapped his gaze back to her with the same goofy smile, “But Woopy here instead! We run away together!”

They would make a wonderful couple.

This was getting quite odd. The house elf was touching her, her students were all now staring at her and she was definitely confused. Ellie almost jerked her hand back from him as he stood up, making the sponge squirt all over the rest of her parchments. Now that was quite uncalled for. She opened her mouth to speak but he talked about her... writing to him? Ellie had most certainly not done that. She hadn't written a letter to anyone. Not even her family. And she kept her diary under lock and key so that was out of the question, plus it was back in Hogsmeade.

"Now see here," she started. And then he suggested they run away together. She was all for equality and whatnot, but there was a... race... thing between them. He wasn't even technically human.

Slowly disentangling her hand from Woopy's, Ellie slid as far back as she could from him without being rude. One must never be rude, even to the help. "I'm afraid you have me mixed up with someone else, sir. I didn't write you a letter. And we are definitely not running away together. I have obligations, and children. And you.. you're a house elf...?" Her voice trailed off into a slight questioning lilt at the end, unsure how to proceed. She couldn't exactly make him leave, he was standing on her desk. Nevermind that he was like... three feet tall and weighed like twenty pounds. She wasn't going to risk touching him any more than she had to. No sense in giving him more attention.

Now see here, she had said. And Woopy nodded vigorously. He could see there. He could see the whole of her beautiful face right there; her blonde hair and dark eyes. The soft red in her cheeks – was she blushing? Oh, of all things House Elf he hoped she was. That would mean she felt the same way he did!

He opened his mouth to speak though… she had moved from him and was trying to protest!
Was this a wizardkind mating ritual?
Well if it was, he’d play along.

“You my mistress now though! You didn’t write Woopy,” He said with an over-exaggerated wink, moving closer to her once again, “and Woopy know he house elf! You a witch! Do not worry, Woopy know where we go!”

Woopy did not know where they would go.

But he didn’t mind. Or care.
Or, more accurately, he wasn’t of sound enough mind to realise what he was actually saying. Or doing.

And in that moment, what he did decide to do was summon a bunch of half-dead flowers he’d seen in the greenhouses earlier that day. He threw them at her and grinned, “Woopy think he love you, and Woopy know you love him!”

If she didn’t, why did she write that letter?
Granted, he wasn’t able to read it to determine if it was actually from her, if it was to him, or if it was even a love letter but he just knew. Something inside of him told him.

Call it gut instinct.

When Woopy moved closer, Eleanor scooted her chair back and quickly rose. She had to get away, think about what to do to get this house elf away from her. What was going on? She'd never seen him, never spoken to him. Nothing. He kept insisting that she'd sent a letter to him. As far as she knew, house elves couldn't even read, and he'd admitted he couldn't write.

Shaking her head, causing hair to fall about her face, Ellie stared at the large eyed creature in front of her. Yes, she'd said it, he was a creature. It pained her to be real, even in her own thoughts, but if she couldn't admit to herself that he was something completely different than her, she couldn't get him to understand that she did. Not. Write. That. Letter.

Flowers appeared in his hand and then they were flung at her. First off, killing flowers just to give to her? An earth magic professor? Clearly the house elf didn't know who she was. It was akin to giving a dead hippogriff to Hudson Podmore. Completely preposterous and rude.

Firmly planting her foot down, Ellie stared the house elf right in the eye and stated with every ounce of her will, "See here, I don't know you. I don't love you, and you most certainly do not love me. Something is awry here and I intend to figure it out." Looking at her class, who were ogling the scene, Ellie made shooing motions at them and announced that class was dismissed. Most of them stayed in their seats, clearly intrigued.

She was so cute when she was angry! Woopy took note of how her noses scrunched up and he didn’t even notice the students up and leave. His entire attention was focused on her; fixed on her. His entire being was hers for now and eternity.

Perhaps she didn’t want to admit it right now, perhaps she was too shy but Woopy knew what her true feelings were and he intended on making sure she was aware of them, too!

“Only thing that is wrong is Woopy not in your arms!” He huffed and threw himself at her with all hope on her catching him.

He was confident – more than he was at anything else – that she would indeed catch him.

By the time Woopy spoke to her again, a good chunk of the students had left, bored now by the house elf being weird in their classroom. Many had other classes to attend and several just didn't care. It was the few that were still left that saw the elf fling himself at their professor. Only to fall flat on his face.

Ellie had stepped backwards as soon as he spoke, though she had now run up against a wall. She'd sidled sideways when he left the desk, in mid air, so he landed smack dab where she had been standing.

Then kindness kicked in and she stepped backwards, kneeling beside the elf. Just, you know, to make sure that he wasn't bleeding or dead. Gently touching his shoulder, Ellie peered down at him. "Are you okay?" she asked, her tone hesitant. What if he had died? Would she get in trouble?

Was this what falling for someone felt like?
Is this what they meant when they said love hurt?
Did love’s keen sting feel like this, truly? He wasn’t young but it still hurt.

Her calming tone however as she placed her hand on his shoulder reassured him that they were destined to be with one another and no sooner had her question left her lips had Woopy leapt back onto his feet, brushed himself down and wrapped his arms around her leg.

“Woopy fine!” He said and wrapped his legs around her leg, too.
“Woopy great!” He continued and began shimmying up her leg as if it were a tree trunk.
“Because,” He stopped as he reached her body, his arms and legs sprawled out to cling against her, “Woopy has you.” His big blue eyes looked up to her lovingly.

She was remarkable.

Maybe, she belatedly thought, she shouldn't have done that. She touched him and then he was up and wrapping himself around her and her skirts. As he shimmied up her leg to her torso, a scandalous amount of leg showed and a sense of horror filled her. She was being accosted by a fecking house elf. And he was on her. And staring at her. And touching her.

Ellie had about reached her limit.

"Now see here," She attempted to pry the creature from her chest, but he was stubbornly clinging to her. "I need you to let go. I have another class coming in and it would be quite unseemly for them to see my leg exposed like this. And not to mention, you kind of smell. And the sponge you left on my desk is ruining the wood. Do you know how expensive that desk was? I. Need. You. Off."

Woopy could not understand why she kept telling him to see there. He could see; he could see all of her and she was astonishing. She reminded him of a dead frog he’d once found which was, perhaps, the biggest compliment he’d ever given someone. Maybe he ought to tell her?

His thoughts drifted in and out of her voice until her last four words.
She wanted him off.
He grinned and nodded. He knew what she meant.

She wanted him off of the classroom and out into the open where they could scream at the top of their lungs how they were to be with each other forever.
Would they have children?
Had anyone had Half-Elf/Half-Human children before? What did they look like?
If they were anything like Eleanor, they would certainly be the most beautiful beings alive. More beautiful than a dead frog in a pond: - shiny in its splendour and serene in its slumber.

“Woopy understand,” he said quietly though made no attempt to move, “You tell Mr Black first?” He grinned.

He wouldn’t go until she gave him the go-ahead, of course. He knew how humans felt when they apparated (though he rather enjoyed the sensation).

"Yes, Woopy off." she repeated after him, the tone in her voice both exasperated and slightly condescending, almost as if she were talking to a suitor that would not go away. Not that she'd had any of those, Xander had been her first and only suitor. She was so grateful for that.

And then it registered that Woopy was asking her to go to the Headmaster-- the Headmaster with him. No. Just no.

"Now see here!" This was perhaps her favorite phrase with the elf right now. He was clearly not thinking straight and it was time to make him pay attention. He was obviously besotted with her, for what reason she wasn't sure. Maybe if they DID go to the Headmaster he would be able to shine some light on it. But she couldn't go with her leg showing like this, and she couldn't go with her class about to start. That would get her into trouble. But it did give her an idea.

"Woopy," she started, her tone falsely sweet. "I have to teach my class right now, but when it is over, we can go to the Headmaster's office. Together. Wouldn't that be nice? But it won't happen until you get down. Right now. And go do something else. Away from me. Got it?"

Her order – no, command – sent a flurry of feelings throughout his body and the moment she spoke, he dropped onto the floor though remained staring up at her unwavering in his utter devotion to her. He couldn’t wait to tell the other elves about his new lover. About how her locks drooped over her face like devil’s snare trying to murder someone gracefully or how she was so caring and considerate that she kept reminding him to see her. He wasn’t blind – not really. By love perhaps, but his eyesight was actually pretty good.

It was one of his best features.

Woopy listened intently as she laid out the plan.
It would be nice. They would be together.
But then she told him to go away! How could they be together if they were apart?

He was happy to oblige though and he sauntered off to the other end of the classroom and began dusting the wall. It was more circling the same spot on the wall as he stared at her teach for the next hour or so.

By the time he was done, he’d scrubbed the same stone so much that it had a certain sheen to it.

As soon as she was done teaching, and not a moment later, he apparated right in front of her despite being in the same room; “Woopy miss you. He not know what he do if you ever went away!”

The very thought of her leaving his sight for but a moment had tears welling up in his eyes. He jumped onto her once again and nestled against her chest sobbing, “You no leave Woopy!”

It was as hard as the rocks she was describing to her students to pay attention to what she was saying as the ridiculous little elf stood there at the other end of her classroom scrubbing the wall. Over. And over. And over. In circles upon circles. Her thoughts whirled as she attempted to pay attention. She kept thinking about what to say to the Headmaster when they went. Because unfortunately, it looked like she had no choice. But perhaps Phineas would be able to command the house elf to leave her alone.

As soon as the lesson was over, in front of all her first and second years, Woopy apparated in front of her and firmly latched onto her chest. And then began to sob. What the fecking hell?! She'd gotten him off and now he was back? No rest for the weary.

"Woopy," More firmly this time, "Woopy." She clearly wasn't getting through to him, he just kept sobbing. "Dry your tears if you intend to take me to the Headmaster's office. I refuse to be seen with you if you are covered in snot. Go get that sponge off my desk--" oh the sponge. She was so upset about her desk. Seriously, it was ruined now."and wipe your nose. Now." If he needed to be treated like the child he was sized like, she'd do it. It had worked before, right?

Woopy, she said and his knees went weak.
Woopy, she repeated and his heart skipped a beat.
Dry your tears, she ordered and as if magic took hold, he stopped crying.

This brand of mysterious love had a strange way of penetrating Woopy right to his core and the more she spoke and told him what to do, the more he fell for her. Every word, every syllable, every breath and every huff had Woopy drift further into the void that was his eternal and undying love for Eleanor Rigby.

He dropped from her then and shook his head to dry his face before looking up to her with a smile, his brows furrowed in deep thought, “if you were a frog, Woopy think you not be dead.”
He nodded with certainty before looking to her shoes and then back to her face, “Woopy think shoes are silly. They hide feet and feet not be hidden!” He explained his logic for his next actions as he outstretched his toes.

He then pattered toward her shoes and knelt down, grabbing her right foot and practically laying on it, “It okay! Woopy release your pretty feet!”

Thank goodness, he stopped crying and snotting all over her best dress. Why, oh why, had she worn that today? She should have known that something would happen. If there was one thing she knew about the magical community is that one needed to be on guard at all times. After all, no one would have guessed that a flying tiger would have killed her husband.

He got down-- wonderful!

And then touched her feet. And then laid on them. Podophobia. It was a real thing. She didn't like people touching her feet, she barely tolerated touching her feet herself. And here was this ridiculous house elf wanting her to take her shoes off? No. Just no.

"Woopy! she exclaimed. "Woopy please, I like my shoes on. The stone is rather cold beneath my feet. My socks are thin. No, Woopy, no." It was likely a feeble attempt at stopping him, but she'd try. Maybe if she started walking towards the door, he'd leave her feet alone? It was worth a shot.

Shuffling forward with the elf still on her foot, Ellie shook her leg, hoping it would dislodge him. "I thought you wanted to go see the Headmaster?" she bargained. "Can't do that if you're on my feet. I need to walk there, Woopy."
