NEW YEAR CELEBRATION TURNS DARK
EXPERIMENTAL SPELL CAUSES DEATHS

Three wizards are charged with manslaughter after setting off a round of experimental fireworks at a London New Year celebration that injured a dozen and killed three, including one muggle. Witnesses report that one of the men, identified as Mr. Eustace Porter of Liverpool, had spent the evening boasting of “a new trick” that he and his friends had concocted before the incident occured.

Among the fifteen victims was a muggle woman who was quickly identified as the wife of another victim, a wizard, and two children. Names of the victims have not been, as families are still being notified, but Auror Umbridge, head of the auror office, assures more details will be released as the investigation continues.

The Daily Prophet wishes to remind its readers that all experimental charms and spells must have Ministry approval before being performed in a public setting. Questions regarding the legality of specific charms may be sent to the Improper Use of Magic Office.
