Olive, 11¼ inches, with a fwooper feather at its core.Blood Status: Halfblood
Social Class: Upper Class
Family:
Karim Sabri, Father [1836] | Only child Karim has long believed in hard work, duty, and honour. After his father suffered a stroke, Karim, then twenty-four, took over the family shipping business, rising the Sabri family from "firmly middle class" to "new money upper class" by the time he was twenty-nine years old. That his son would rather ~fritter away his life playing quidditch than begin making something of himself is a sore spot between the two, who love one another but do not like each other at all. He dotes upon his wife though, like his son, he doesn't fully understand her.Appearance:
Elisabeth Sabri, Mother [1845] | French-born Elisabeth met her would-be husband while travelling northern Africa with a spinster aunt. His handsome face and her firm desire to not become like said aunt saw her swiftly pursue the man she saw as "exotic", though once the pair were wed, she quickly began to wonder if he wasn't a bit too conventional for her liking after all. She is fully supportive of Hassan's life choices, believing that he must enjoy his youth if he is ever to settle into adulthood properly.
Jamila Sabri, Sister [1870] | With limited options for formal schooling at home in Morocco, Jamila was sent to Beauxbatons for her education, alternating summers at home with summers in France with her grandparents. As a result, she and Hassan are not particularly close, though she and their mother have chosen to accompany the Moroccans to Britain, having taken a lavish flat in muggle London.
Quidditch Background:Hassan Sabri does not cut a particularly imposing figure. He is sturdy, rather than strong, and stands at five feet and six inches. What he does possess is a mop of curly dark hair, brown eyes, and an infectious smile. Though he favours simple cuts of clothing, he has a fondness for vibrant colours and patterns. He always looks just rumpled, by design, as he thinks it makes him appear more relaxed and interesting. Hassan is right-handed.
— Due to his father's discouragement of "needless distraction", Hassan did not ride a broom until he was fifteen, but took to it like a horse to water.Educational Background:
— Was one of the founding members of his school's quidditch club.
— Has played first string for the team based out of Tangier since the age of nineteen.
— This is his second time playing for the Moroccan national team, though his first on the first string.
— He took his earliest lessons from a Portuguese tutor before being sent away to a prestigious magical boys' school in Casablanca.Other Notable Events:
— His instructors described him typically as "well-meaning but largely disinterested".
— At thirteen, he would have been kicked out of school for his involvement in a midnight carpet race (in which two of his yearmates flew into the wall, breaking a number of bones) were it not for a donation from his father.
— Lost his virginity to a schoolmate at the age of fifteen, though if pressed, will insist it was with a female servant over a break from school.Personality:
Other:EXTROVERTED — GOES WITH THE FLOW — FLIRT — COMPETENT — LOYAL
SKILLS:
- Languages: Fluent in Arabic, French, and Portuguese. Functional English and Spanish.
- Flying: As a seeker, he is quite gifted on a broomstick. Hassan also has made a name for himself as an amateur carpet racer.
- He is a strong horseman.
- (Hassan also fancies himself an excellent lover, but you'll have to ask around or see for yourself for confirmation on that one.)
TRIVIA:
- Mediocre (at best!) at spellcasting, though he does do an excellent stinging hex.
- His bisexuality is a closely-guarded secret.
- His background is a hodgepodge—a French mother and maternal grandparents with a paternal grandmother from Portugal and a paternal Moroccan grandfather.
- Far enough removed from muggle society that he does not even pretend at religion, a fact that irks his father.
- Does not consume alcohol, both due to the culture in which he was raised and due to the fact that he doesn't like to appear a fool.
