Professor Valenduris,

I would be keenly interested in becoming an apprentice this summer while you study under Maestro Caesar Payesio.  I believe this would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to truly hone and expand on my skills, as well as be a way to impress a future employer.  After graduation, I wish to pursue a career in potions.  In particular, I would be interested in focusing on medicinal potions.  I also believe studying alchemy may offer another perspective on potions that I would be excited to be exposed to.

[Insert Here: Clem gushing about various famous potioneers and alchemists she looks up to and how they've inspired her. Even a few herbologists sneak in. The passionate ramble goes on for about a foot of parchment.]

It's one thing to read about such pioneers, but, to be given the opportunity to learn hands-on, would be even more beneficial. Overall, this would be an incredibly useful, advantageous, and intriguing opportunity that I truly wish to be a part of.

Thank you for the consideration,

Professor Valenduris,

As previously discussed, I seek to be enrolled in your Summer studies with Maestro Pavesio.

This is not solely because I wish to spend the Summer away from the orphanage, though I cannot pretend that is not a crucial factor in my ambitions, but also because Potions is my strongest subject and a constant interest.

I featured Maestro Pavesio in an essay I wrote in my Third Year, where [Clue writes about Pavesio and his inspiring work here].

Thank you for your consideration.

Professor Valenduris,

I would be honored to be able to work alongside you and Maestro Caesar Pavesio this summer. This will be my second year taking Alchemy as a class and the ability to work with a professional int he field to expand the knowledge imparted on me by Hogwarts before I make the transition between schooling and the professional field.

I am deeply fascinated my the interworkings of magic and wish to pursue a career in the creation of new spells and potions. Any chance I have to further this understanding [insert blurb about the theory of magic blah blah] would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your consideration,
Germander Macnair

Professor Valenduris,

I think it would be wonderful to apprentice with you during this opportunity. I know I haven't reached my O.W.L.s yet, so I cannot give you my grades, and I do know I'm not the best student ever, but my marks are okay. But outside of grades, potions is one of the few classes I do well in without much additional help. I do truly enjoy the class and think this is something that I potentially could pursue further. At fourteen, I can't say that I know what I want to do for a career. I still have some time to decide, but I have an idea. I want to do something with a focus on magical plants. And not just because that is what my family does, I do actually like it as well. But I think that is why I do so well in potions, because of my background in herbology. But this would be a chance for me to look at a new side of everything I've worked with before. Potions are important in plant care - you can use potions for fertilizing the soil, growth promotions, color changes, pesticides, and so many other things.

Thank you,
Calla Potts

16th April, 1890

Professor Valenduris,

Good afternoon. I do not anticipate my expression of interest coming as a surprise, given the aptitude and curiosity I have shown towards potions since beginning at Hogwarts. Though I have not yet sat any formal examinations, I would let myself down if I allowed my relative youth to prevent me from putting my name forward. You, of course, are more aware of my academic achievements in potion brewing than even myself, and so it is the reason for my interest that I shall spend my time upon.

Potions, I believe, is the child born of enchantment and truly working with one's hands. It boasts broader application than the growing of plants or the rearing of garden gnomes, while drawing more physically upon a witch or wizard than the casting of charms or the reading of runes. It requires a more measurable finesse than the majority of the spells I have been privileged to learn (appealing to my vanity) and has a great deal of room for innovation (appealing even more strongly to my curiosity).

I have known for some time now that working as a potioneer will be my future role, and am fortunate to come from a background where such academic pursuits are not only welcomed, but encouraged. I know that I still have a great deal to learn in order to accomplish what I wish in life, and am certain that this internship would place me head and shoulders above where I am now.

Thank you, Sir, for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Miss Idunn Fraser
