One of the cheapest homeless shelters in Victorian London charged four pennies to sleep in a coffin. Which was... still better than sleeping upright against a rope? — Jordan / Lynn
If he was being completely honest, the situation didn't look good, but Sylvano was not in the habit of being completely honest about anything. No reason to start now.

October 1st, 1895 - Halloween Party

Having grown up in London, Min was no stranger to English foods. They tended to stick to more traditional fare at home, considering most of their staff was also from Joseon, but Min had developed a bit of a sweet tooth over the course of his life. There was no shortage of sweets in either Hogsmeade or London and while he was always willing to make the trek to the village to Honeydukes, sometimes he was feeling more like the ice cream that Fortescue's had to offer. It was such a strange thing, ice cream, that Min liked to see what Mr. Fortescue came up with for different flavors.

The Halloween-themed event was quite the to-do, Min didn't know where to look first. There were entertaining little games and of course the new treats to try. Min made his way to the ice cream case, looking at the flavor descriptions, wondering what he ought to try. The Pumpkin Patch and Cobweb Cotton both sounded worth a sample. The other two might have been a little too adventurous for his tastes, though he had yet to find something that was entirely too spicy for him.

A bat went swooping by, but there wasn't much that spooked him when it came to animals, in fact he thought bats were fascinating. He watched it fly off and stop over a person, fascinated by the game that was apparently going on. He chuckled as the bat dropped what appeared to be some liquid into the person's mouth. It was ingenious really, the thought that went into the games and events today. Min was delighted by the whole thing. Another bat went flying by, but this one flew a little too low, instead of hovering above the person, it got caught in the woman's hair. He stepped forward to help, but wasn't exactly sure where to start. "I can attempt to retrieve it, if you don't mind standing still for a moment." He assured gently, hovering until asked to do something.

Hurling perhaps??

There was a lot on Alcyones mind. Maddy and Cammy, both presumed gone forever. It was a heartache unlike any other, reliving what they had gone through with Sloane. Except Sloane had turned out to be alive so there was a hope there but with the continued state of there being no news... it was becoming hopeless.

In the hopes of cheering her up, her chaperone had whisked her to the Fortescues event. She was having fun enough, she supposed but not so much to pull her out of the depths of her despair. Thus she had not noticed one of the paper bats flying too low and so could not avoid it as it got caught in her hair. "Please, if you would be so kind," she said, doing her best to angle it towards him a bit, her chaperone having stepped away to retrieve another scoop for herself.

The movement of the paper bat would have fooled Min if he hadn't already seen one up close. The flaps of the little wings were very lifelike and as he got closer, he could see the details in greater focus. It was impressive really, the attention to the anatomy of a real bat. Perhaps if he could get it out, he might ask Fortescue if he could keep it.

The young woman was quite petite, which Min supposed made his job a little easier as he could see fairly well. Unfortunately the little thing had flapped its last flap, a little limp attempt as he got closer, but it had gotten itself well and truly tangled. Would he be able to get it out without ruining her style? Time to find out, he supposed.

"It appears to have wound itself between the strands incredibly well." Min stated as he gently tugged at the paper wing to see just how stuck it was. He was met with a lot of resistance and glanced around to see if there might be someone better suited to this, her chaperon perhaps, but nobody immediately appeared. "I will try not to tug too much." He added, remembering he had offered to help and should probably at least attempt it before seeking assistance.

Alcyone cared very little for the paper bats at the moment though she had previously been fascinated as she always was with magical decor. All she wanted was for the paper bat to get out of her hair without making her look too disheveled. That would likely give the rumour mill a field day though she supposed she was probably not a person of much consequence to send tongues wagging.

"It is all right, as long as you get it out," she assured. "My hair can always be fixed." A contradiction to her inward thoughts but it was true that she just wanted it out of her hair. It wasn't hurting or anything but it did feel uncomfortable and a bit itchy.
