Evening of Saturday, September 6, 1895 - Hogsmeade Hospital, Hogsmeade, following the immediate aftermath of the Irvingly Fog
The moment Matthew had gotten the emergency summons to Irvingly his mind had gone to Elizabeth and Sisse getting on to the train this morning with Mrs. Rose, his former governess. At that moment watching the ladies step aboard he had heaved a sigh that Mrs. Rose would keep them from getting into trouble, after all it was only a Harvest Festival they were intent on attending. But his heart had clenched and he has rushed to the site of the disaster to assist and to try and find them.
He'd volunteered to help nearest Salem Square but had seen no sign of Sisse, Elizabeth, or Miss Rose. Indeed he'd seen more horror than anything else. The further away from the square he'd gotten the more desperate he'd been. He helped family after family. He'd run from door to door, always distracted and keeping his eyes open for the ladies. Each trip back to Hawthorne Hallow he'd searched for them. He hadn't found them.
Exhausted he'd returned home, hoping they were there. They weren't. He'd stopped at the Potts home, the Bixby home, and the Hatchitt home to no avail. And so here he was. The only place left was the hospital. Were they injured? Hurt? But scanning over those in the front of the hospital he hadn't seen them. Had she gone to Hatchitt then? Taken refuge in his arms while no one even know her whereabouts?
He burst into the empty patient room he'd been directed he'd find Hatchitt in full of outrageous indignation. It would be just like Sisse to go to her lover first when her family fretted at home. He caught sight of Hatchitt and stormed over demanding in an angry low voice, "Where is she?"
