Did You Know?
One of the cheapest homeless shelters in Victorian London charged four pennies to sleep in a coffin. Which was... still better than sleeping upright against a rope? — Jordan / Lynn
If he was being completely honest, the situation didn't look good, but Sylvano was not in the habit of being completely honest about anything. No reason to start now.

Appearance:
General |
At five foot one, Elsie stands a little shorter than average, however she likes to wear heeled shoes that make her around five foot three (she can walk in heels taller than that, but it's really not a talent that one should openly advertise, is it?) While she has pale skin, it always sports a light golden undertone, and is also prone a healthy coral flush that spreads across wide, ample cheeks. Her dark brown eyes are almost always alive with humor and delight. She is right handed.

Fashion | Elsie absolutely adores fashion. She always tries to wear the latest and loves to dress in warm, bright pastels. She has a bit of a complicated relationship with her modiste; she is an excellent customer and always returns to the same woman, however Elsie's habit of letting her curiosity get away from her means that she often ends up losing a glove, a ribbon or - even one time - both shoes. Absentee articles of clothing aside, one thing (or things) she does not leave the house without in the most recent years are a pair of gloves. She almost always matches them to her outfits, but Elsie very rarely takes them off in public.

Deportment | You'll find Elsbeth's eyes always scanning a crowd, whether it's to admire the latest fashions keep an eye on her siblings or just to find something extraordinarily intriguing, she often gives off the air of someone about to take flight and ready at a moment's notice.

History:
Childhood
1872 - 1882
Elsbeth is born the third child of the Carrows in Great Britain, close relatives of the Rookwoods. After the recent murder of Lillian Rookwood at the Carrow's summer home in France, a little distance is needed between the two families; something that is somewhat achievable, given that both Edmund and Rosaline Carrow work as political attachés, and are thus otherwise rather absent from their home in Great Britain.

Elsbeth is doted upon, as many children are in doting, upper class family households. And then her younger sister and brother are born and she is now the middle child in a very large house with a decent number of children running around. Elsie makes the most of it, nursing her curiosity and finding trouble where she can. Most of the servants indulge her, especially their governess, however there are plenty of times when she gets in trouble and sent to bed without any desserts.

Beauxbatons
1883 - 1890
The time for school has come for Elsie; having demonstrated her first sign of magic with the simple act of turning the gemstone on her mother's favorite from ruby to emerald has ensured that she be entitled to a magical education. The debate amongst the family is which school she should attend. While both of her elder siblings go to Hogwarts, the family has decided to settle in France where the rest of the children will attend Beauxbatons (a compromise the Carrow patriarch made to mollify his Korean-French wife). While Elsie was looking forward to attending Hogwarts, she eventually comes around to this new idea, especially after having seen the Beauxbatons uniforms and how chic they look.

Her time at the magical French school passes with little fanfare; she does well in classes, favoring Transfiguration, Potions and Alchemy above all, and she eventually grows into herself just like all adolescent wixen do. When the time comes for Elsie to graduate and debut in society, she is more ready for the social schedule and the many opportunities for shopping, and less for the idea of marrying right away. She absolutely intends upon doing well by her family and marrying a good candidate that would suit her station, but Elsie also wants for something more before becoming a Society wife. She wants to explore and live before she settles down and does what is expected of her, and especially study to become an animagus.

Ultimately, she gets more than she bargains for.

The Manuscript
1893
By now, Elsie has successfully gained her animagus form, something her family breathes a sigh of relief given the difficulty of the task. Elsie for her part is a little insulted at their lack of faith in her abilities. Give that this danger has passed, most of Elsie's family has figured that by now, if she were to get into any real trouble, it would be abroad, like her cousin Lillian. Thus far, her only real trouble has been failure to procure any sort of match for the past few seasons, which Elsie doesn't exactly lament over, thank you very much. It's during one summer after suffering a week of insomnia that she steals from her room and starts to explore the estate as she tends to do. On this particular evening, she finds herself wandering down a strangely unfamiliar hallway — a long forgotten and boarded up wing. She's not sure exactly how she managed to get inside, but her curiosity, as it always does, gets the better of her and she eventually finds herself in what looks like an abandoned personal library. After exploring the shelves, she finds a secret lever that opens into a stone and iron alcove where a lone gilded chest sits. Upon opening it, Elsie pulls out a number of artifacts: an old book, a beautiful antique cloak, and a pair of her mother's gloves.

She can't remember anything after that.

When Elsie wakes up the next morning, she realizes she is wearing the gloves she found, with the book lying open on her bed spread, and the cloak hanging up by the door. It isn't until the next day that Elsie realizes something is amiss, and that the skin on her arms has begun to burn.

Present
1895
A curse. Simple and plain as that, one that seems to capitalize on Elsie's interest in alchemy, seeing as it turns patches of her skin into various different types of metals. Her only saving grace is that these patches are concentrated on her arms and legs, which she can easily cover with stockings and gloves, but she knows there's only a matter of time before they might start to spread. She tries to get rid of it, however it soon becomes clear that she needs help. Professional help, which means her quest for becoming a Society wife has been put on pause, this time against her will.

Personality: a little too curious for her own good - romantic - passionate about philosophy - bit of an adrenaline junkie
