June 18th, 1888 — Padmore Park

After seeing Ishmael walk outside of the forest in daylight, entirely unbothered, she decided she was going to do the same. She'd never been able to experience the village except beneath the cloak of darkness. The fog was a funny thing. She strolled about. She wasn't alone — she could smell the humans — but none had stumbled close enough to her to peak her interest overly much. Instead, she unknowingly found her way into the park. The fog consistency was a bit different here - heaver, perhaps? She swirled her arms in circles vigorously and giggled as the particles clung to her face and hands and dampened her disheveled nightgown.

"Now this is magic!" Her giggles echoed throughout the park, bouncing off of the fog itself so that it sounded like there was more than one of her. That would be nice. She'd have a friend to play with then. Wouldn't be so lonely. The other vampires weren't much into playing tea parties.

It had taken a lot of convincing before Mama and Papa let Claire and Cele go to the park, under their supervision. Well, as much supervision as the fog would allow. But that didn’t stop Claire from running around and trying to explore a park that they had visited on multiple occasions. It was like a wonderland of mystery and excitement.

Hearing other giggling, she had thought it was Cele, until she heard the voice. That was not her sisters voice. And it echoed. “Hello?” She called out, her playfulness far from fading. She didn’t recognize the voice, she felt a sense of excitement and adventure.

February was delighted when someone responded to her --- another child, just her luck! Today was hers for the taking.

"Hello," She grinned widely, which would have made her fangs visible had she been close enough to the girl at the time, "Do you want to play? It's been a long time since I had someone to play with." Without waiting for a response, February shuffled through the damp grass toward the scent. The girl wasn't far. Already, she could see her outline through the fog.

Claire was quite excited that someone else’s parent had allowed them to play in the fog. What luck! Perhaps she and Cele weren’t the only ones that had a big urge to play.

Hello.” She replied brightly. The fact that she and Cele could make a new friend was delightful to the young red head. “I would be thrilled to play with you. Mama and Papa took a long time before my twin and I could convince them to let us play outside as well.” She stated. Barely making out an outline as the fellow little girl approached her, she guessed that the girl was about her age.

"Parents can be so silly," She told the other girl. The fog had faded the color of her outline until this point. She was close enough now to see the faint red-brown shade of her hair. It had been years since she'd last been able to play with someone. She could be good this time, if only for a little bit. The girls parents were nearby. She shouldn't be around... although they didn't have magic to attack her. This was the safest, closest thing to normalcy that she could get. She was going to take it.

February continued to step closer as she spoke, "You smell nice. Do you know how to play tag? It's one of my favorites." As she finished speaking, she pressed through the fog enough to fully reveal herself to the other girl. She was at least wise enough to keep her lips over her fangs. If her blue-tinged skin didn't give her away, her fangs certainly would.

Well, the other girl was right about that. Parents did act so silly at times. “They do have one reason to be hesitant to let my twin, Cele, and I play. Mama is mad because we went on an adventure on a ship.” She stated with pride. Even now she didn’t understand Mama’s view on the issue. They were having an adventure, and Claire had her first sign of magic!

Smell? Did she get Mama’s perfume on her? “I know how to play that. And so does Cele. You might even tag her instead of me.” She said, giggling at the thought. “We are identical, so you and her might both be confused if you tag her.” She added with amusement. In the fog, it made the other girl’s features seem… blue? At least a hint of blue. It must be the fog.

An adventure on a ship? That sounded interesting. February had never been on a ship, despite how long she'd been around. The very idea of being on something in open water made her stomach flip-flop, which was a rather unfamiliar sensation. Best not to think of it.

"That could be amusing," She giggled, careful to keep her lips over her fangs, "I'll go first. Tag, you're it!" February sprang forward and brushed her fingers across the girl's shoulder, careful to make sure she didn't touch any of her skin. Most humans didn't like the feel of clammy skin, from what she could tell - too cold, it was said. She leaped away with a hearty laugh and disappeared into the fog, "Can't catch me!"

#8
With a slight shriek of surprise, she laughed happily and raced after the other girl. Part of her wondered if she would accidently run into the other girl, with the fog being so thick. But no matter, if they tripped that may be fun in and of itself. "Oh, I will catch you. I happen to be quite good at this game!" She said with pure confidence. Even if they ended up loosing sight of one another, it was only a matter of time that she'd find the fellow girl. After all, how many other children could possibly be in the park today?

Though she couldn't see the little girl, she could smell her. She ran slow enough where her footsteps could be heard, giggling innocently and taunting, "You're too slow!" With the little girl's heart racing - pumping that delicious, warm blood through her veins - February's mouth began to water. They always tasted so much better after they'd got their pulse jumping. She darted behind a tree and called gleefully, "Here I am, come and get me!" She waited, unable to hide her wide fang-revealing smile.

Claire was surprised at how fast the girl was! At least, that's how it felt to Claire. Panting, she looked around slightly. It was all good and fun. Perhaps they would see each other in Hogwarts. What was the girl's age though? Hopefully they were the same year at Hogwarts. Or perhaps she was a year older, and Claire could ask all about the school from a fresh point of view! That sounded delightful! She thought of that as she tried to follow the voice. "You are very good at this." She said with a giggle.

"I know, that's what makes it fun!" She listened intently as the girl's footsteps came closer. Soon, she'd be just close enough that February could tag her. Finally, the other girl's boots crunched the grass on the other side of the tree. February snaked her hand around the tree, snatched hold of the girl's sleeve and attempted to pull at her with more strength than a girl of her size should have to her side.

It was a delightful game. At least it wasn't too easy! Some kids made it too easy for her. Especially the boys, like she was a fragile doll. But running fast and actually having to find someone was part of the fun! Suddenly she felt an unexpected tug on her sleeve, and a strong one at that!

With a shriek, she fell forward and heard a rip come from her sleeve. Mama was not going to like that! Falling on her shoulder with a small 'oof', she looked over to see the figure of the girl. Giggling softly, she glanced at her sleeve. "Oops." She said with a giggle. She did not yet notice the pain in her arm coming from were she had landed. It would certainly result in a bruise from the fall.

"Careful, you wouldn't want to get a scratch," She said delightedly, "You ruined your dress, though." February didn't smell a fresh scratch. Likely, it was just a bruise. How disappointing. Though if she had been scratched, she didn't think she'd be able to stop herself from devouring her. It had been quite some time since she'd been able to play with anyone her own size. The others didn't like to let her out very often. It was no fun being cooped up all of the time.

#14
Well of course she would not wish for any scratches! "Mama won't be happy about that." She said with a giggle. Playing was quite fun, but Mama never seemed to like the ruined clothing that were the result of running around all of the time.

February mimicked the other girl's giggle and then stopped abruptly. She leaned toward the other girl and whispered conspiratorially, "Little girl, can I tell you a secret?" She giggled again and covered her mouth - and fangs - with her clammy hand.

#16
Tilting at the sudden stop at giggling, her eyes flashed with excitement at the mention of a secret. "Sure." She said happily.
