Questions on educational requirements since I now have a panicking fifth year.

Our Careers page shows an Auror having Potions, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, Herbology, and Charms as required NEWTs.

It was Potions, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, Charms, and an appropriate fifth elective in canon. Harry took Herbology, but that wasn't the only option.

On Charming, does an Auror need Herbology, or can they sub in a different fifth class?

Asking for Anne a friend.

The occupations list also lists Herbology as required for Auror trainees so I would say yes, it's needed.

They can take up to 7 newts so she can always take extra classes on top of those, but Herbology should be one of them!

The Occupation list does, but the Auror Training Program requirements do not.

"In order to even be considered for the Auror Training Program (ATP), the potential trainee must have no fewer than 5 E-rated NEWTS, which must include Defence Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, Charms, and Potions."

This description makes more sense to me, as it stands to reason that different aurors would have different specialties. So...can I follow the ATP protocol or the occupation list? (Or use Against the Odds?)

Hey Amy! Yes, please still use the Occupations list for our most accurate guidelines (but thanks for pointing that out, I will edit the other page to include Herbology!)

Our reasoning is that as Poisons & Antidotes is a course on the Auror programme that a higher grounding in Herbology is probably useful. Of course if you want to use an AtO down the line, that should be fine.
