Do no wrong. Those three little words made Jin want to roll his eyes, hard, but he couldn’t quite manage the urge with how happily lovedrunk he felt instead. It was moments like these where he’d have agreed to anything Ahn-Bo-ah said, even if later he came to his senses. His friend wasn’t perfect, that was a fact. But he was damn near as close as it was probably humanly possible to be.

The kiss however, was entirely unplanned. Even as the thought crossed his mind for what was likely the millionth time that week, Jin had dismissed it so thoroughly he was surprised at himself for daring. But he had dared, however lightning fast it was, and now he was left, red-faced and staring back at Ahn-Bo with the biggest question ever on his face. To his credit, Ahn-Bo merely blinked and stated a fact. Jin… wasn’t sure if he was supposed to confirm it, so he stayed quiet.

The sensation of Ann-Bo’s lips on his tingled though and Jin finally felt himself relax as the other smiled at him. It was one of those earth-shattering smiles that could soothe even a broken rib; Jin wanted to save it in a jar and bring it out on cold, frosty days like today so he could bask in its warmth. But Ahn-Bo wasn’t finished. He leaned closer, bringing them nearly nose to nose again and Jin felt his heart skip a beat at what the quidditch player said. He hardly had time to process his own expression before they were kissing again, this time properly.

It felt like all the oxygen had been sucked from his lungs and replaced with a laughing charm; every fibre of Jin’s being swelled with elation (and hormones) as he felt himself sink into it, eyes flickering shut. His grip on Ahn-Bo’s face tightened slightly, holding him there, as everything else disappeared. There was no music room, no piano, no early morning frost— only Ahn-Bo-ah and the powerful scent of amber and spice in his nose. Jin didn’t know why they’d hesitated for so long to do this. It was perfect, just like Ahn-Bo, and just like this moment.

Admittedly, he didn’t have much experience in what made a kiss good versus bad. But that didn’t mean he didn’t try to sort it out as he went along. Seojin-a must have liked it well enough, if the subtle pressure on Ahn-Bo’s cheek was anything to go by. If it was horrible, he would’ve said something, right? Or… maybe not. Either because he didn’t care, didn’t know (they’d never really discussed if his friend had any other romantic experiences), or didn’t want to hurt the quidditch player’s feelings. All of this was a mere blip in his head before his entire focus was drawn to the feel of the vampire’s lips against his. Soft and plush, just like they looked. Even better, his simkung was kissing him back.

His heart felt like he was in free fall, tumbling from above the clouds down to the ocean spray below. The thrill of it zinged through him from head to toe. His heart raced. He wanted to—no, needed to—get even closer. This was the best kiss of his life, and yet something told him there was still more.

His hands were left where they’d been resting on his thighs as he leaned into his friend. They slid to Seojin-a’s waist, using the fabric of his shirt to gently tug him closer. This was it. This was all he wanted to do every day, all day, for the rest of his life. Ahn-Bo would happily give up quidditch, his broomstick, and even food if it meant he could experience this forever. Without knowing exactly what he was doing, he followed his instincts to deepen the kiss. Shortly thereafter, his belly was growling loudly. As if protesting that it was not okay with his sacrifice.

The soft pressure of Ahn-Bo against him was everything to Jin: warm, comforting, and something else he couldn’t quite name (yet) but that clicked into place just as it should. It was silly in retrospect to have worried so much about his friend finding out how he felt, about Ahn-Bo-ah not wanting to speak to him again because of it, of Ahn-Bo-ah not wanting to kiss him— all of it was ridiculous when contrasted against just how right and perfect this moment felt.

As they shifted slightly, Ahn-Bo pressing closer, Jin felt something else spark in his gut. A need he hadn’t experienced before (at least to this degree) clawed at him like some pent up tiger just waiting to be acknowledged. Soft hands settled against his waist, tugging, and Jin gave into them easily. He wanted to be as close to his friend as the small space physically allowed. He opened his mouth slightly, not sure exactly what was supposed to happen next, but it felt like the right thing to do until—

Suddenly, out of nowhere, in the same instance Ahn-Bo’s stomach growled, Jin’s elbow slid against the piano keys making a horrendous sound that startled them apart. He jerked backwards, taking his hands with him, and looked around like there was some invader hellbent on revenge. (Or worse, Abeoji.) His face heated instantly as he realized what had happened though, heart hammering away in his chest, and Jin felt himself laugh. “Mianhe,” he whispered in the quiet silence still between them. But his face had softened again and he straightened, that silly smile curling his lips into a lopsided little shape that exposed the left dimple.

It would be time for breakfast soon, as Ahn-Bo’s ever reliable stomach had announced just moments before. Jin cleared his throat, still blushing, but he wasn’t sure exactly what to say after that. They should probably get ready to tidy up and go but… he wasn’t sure he was ready to leave the comfort of their little moment quite yet.

The discordant plunk of piano keys had them bursting apart. Ahn-Bo had hardly even noticed the growling of his belly—the crashing sound that had him scrambling up from the bench, red-faced and breathless. They’d just been caught, and—oh. Seojin-a was laughing. It was then that it clicked. They weren’t caught; the vampire had unknowingly pressed some keys. Likely with some part of his arm, based on how they’d been intertwined. Ahn-bo huffed a laugh, shoulders drooping as the tension left him.

Seojin-a didn’t seem to know what to do next. Well, good thing Ahn-Bo certainly did. This was an entirely new angle to their relationship, and he didn’t know whether this would become a regular thing or if this was just a “it happened once” thing. For him, it was the latter. They could have discussed it, but the quidditch player was still dizzy from their kiss, a tugging in his lower belly incredibly distracting on top of that. (And if he left it up to Seojin-a, it would be several months of living within this limbo of the unknown.) Ani, he wasn’t doing that again—especially with something as thrilling as this.

Rather than say anything at all, he reached his hand out toward his simkung, still seated on the bench with a hopeful and flirty little smirk. ”Ira-wa.” As soon as Seojin-a was within reach, Ahn-Bo grabbed his hand and tugged him just as close as they’d been on the bench. Except this time, rather than side by side, they were nearly chest to chest. This felt… far more intimate than before. There was still some empty space between them, which would keep him from embarrassing himself so long as Seojin-a didn’t pay close attention.

And then he was kissing him again, picking up right where they’d left off before the startling interruption.
Ira-wa: “come here”

The fact that Ahn-Bo had sprung so far away from him as to be standing only added to Jin’s reason for laughing. He looked positively pale for a second, likely a mirror of Jin’s own expression, but it too soon softened. And then he was beckoning and Jin felt an invisible rope tug him closer.

It was like… some strange kind of tether, or red string, had interlaced them together. Jin could feel it tugging at him every minute Ahn-Bo was apart from him, but more specifically when they were together and he beckoned in this way. There was no denying him, or it. Jin could only hope the feeling would wear off after a little while because he could see this impulse getting quite inconvenient. And distracting.

At the moment he hardly cared though. He slid across the lacquered bench and made to stand, offering Ahn-Bo-ah his hand, and Jin felt himself jerked the rest of the way. He laughed again and caught himself a second before they would have crashed with one hand settling just gently, bracingly maybe, against his friend’s chest. “Yeogi isseoyo,” he chirped, face all teasing smiles. He could tell now when he was wanted most and sometimes he wondered how he could have been so dumb as to not realize it in the past. Moon-ssi was never subtle, and Ahn-Bo-ah even less so.

They kissed again and this time Jin was ready for it. He leaned slightly, tipping forward and relishing in the soft feel of Ahn-Bo’s lips against his; even they were warm, and Jin was greedy enough to want every last scrap he could take— or taste. The height discrepancy made him impatient, Ahn-Bo being a smidge taller than him yet, but Jin just moved closer to bridge the gap. His fingers curled into the fabric of Ahn-Bo’s robes and Jin tugged. He wasn’t sure if he meant to be assertive or if he was just distracted, but some instinct still pacing around in his chest determined not to be left behind.

Seojin-a tugged him closer still. Ahn-Bo willingly went along, a pleased little smile quirking the corners of his lips between kisses. Adorable. His vampire was absolutely adorable. Shy at first, and then had no qualms about jumping straight into the fire. Now that their chests were pressed together, would Seojin-a be able to feel how loudly his heart was beating? There were several layers of fabric between them, yet the way that it thumped so incessantly in his chest had to have been noticeable.

And that was his last semi-coherent thought. His right hand had found its way to cup the back of Sequin-a’s head affectionately; his left arm had wrapped itself snugly around his waist, and he put everything he had into kissing his simkung. He had wanted this for so long. Ahn-Bo was going to collect anything and everything that Seojin-a was willing to give him.

Jin couldn’t help but lean into the warm hand around his waist; he felt so secure when Ahn-Bo-ah held him that it was hard to think he might ever let go again. There had never been much consistency in Jin’s life between eomeoni being tossed out for having him, her marrying and moving them to the apothecary, his running away, and then the constant turmoil that was living with Abeoji— but this? This was consistent. Ahn-Bo had been by his side for the better part of his little life by now and Ahn-Bo-ah always held firm, no matter what happened. Jin had come to rely on him, and he hadn’t yet realized quite how much.

He felt some tap open up as these thoughts began to swirl; like some valve he’d shut off inside that had started to dribble years ago was now being released. The sentiment warmed his cheeks and softened his grin as Jin smiled into their kisses. He never wanted to do anything else again; not sing, not laugh, not play a single instrument. Just this. Too bad they were coming upon breakfast, fast.

Jin could hear stirrings in the hallways that were probably too far away for Ahn-Bo just yet, but the palace was waking. He could pick up the sound of feet shuffling in the direction of the dining hall and sleepy voices drifting. Jin pulled back slightly, but he didn’t go far as he pressed their foreheads together. “Ahn-Bo-ah,” he hummed softly. “We should probably head to the dining hall before we miss breakfast.” It was a suggestion, but only vaguely. Jin was perfectly fine skipping a meal— he did it often in fact. But he knew Ahn-Bo couldn’t bear it on the best of days. He didn’t want to be the reason his friend starved and then had a miserable morning of classes thereafter.

The moment Seojin-a’s lips were no longer touching his, he made a sound of protest. He hadn’t gone far, of course, but if he wasn’t kissing Ahn-Bo, then he may as well have been on the other side of the mountain. There was likely a reason for it, though the quidditch player would rather just tug his simkung right back to him and continue the best morning of their lives. Before he could do just that, Seojin-a suggested they head to breakfast.

Ahn-Bo grunted in disagreement before his ability to speak coherently returned. The lovesick haze faded just enough for him to say (dazedly, though in the future he would never admit it): “Let’s stay here instead.” And then he leaned forward, fully intent on returning to his favorite activity as if Seojin-a hadn’t said anything at all.

Of all the little sounds and reactions Ahn-Bo made, Jin decided he liked this one the best. His little protest and subsequent grunt of disagreement made a fond laugh bubble up and out of the vampire’s chest but it didn’t really go anywhere before Ahn-Bo was kissing him again. Jin laughed right into their kiss and leaned into it before breaking again, kissing Ahn-Bo once more, quickly, and then again on the nose. “Jjinjja?” He teased. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard you willingly offer to skip a meal before, even for me!” Jin smirked slightly. “I feel very special.” And he did. Despite the light tease, it was rather impressive that his friend had offered. Jin made a mental note to remember that he now jumped up above food on the list of Ahn-Bo’s favorite things. Or at least kissing him did.

Kaja,” Jin whisper-prompted softly inclining his head towards the door but still smiling. “I know you’ll regret it during Sigilcraft.”

It was cruel of Seojin-a to tease him like this. Just small kisses, and one on his nose. (The real kiss that had come just before it didn’t count anymore.) Ahn-Bo’s bottom lip protruded in a pout - it was mostly playful - but there was a tiny bit of realness behind it. “You’ve always been very special,” he muttered grumpily. Although, even he would admit he wouldn’t have agreed to miss a meal up until they’d been sitting at the piano.

And then, in a moment that he would remember and regret in completely embarrassment, he pulled a page from his friend’s playbook. “Ani, Jin-aaaaaaa. I want to stay here with you.” He whined. Yes, whined. It would be only minutes later that he would cringe and hope that they never spoke about what he’d just done again.

Ahn-Bo’s pout was almost too much for him. Jin felt the ridiculous urge to pull his friend’s lower lip between his teeth and bite down on it, but he could not for the life of him have explained why. Focusing instead on how sweet the pout and subsequent statement were, Jin grinned and gave Ahn-Bo a soft squeeze. “I know,” he agreed softly.

As for the actual, literal whine that came next— Jin laughed outright. He was impressed Ahn-Bo-ah could even make that sound, but it was arguably the cutest one he’d ever heard. Jin wanted to keep it in his little treasure box of memories forever. Especially because Ahn-Bo had called him Jin-ah! He’d never done that before. Jin wasn’t sure anyone had. He immediately poked his friend in the cheek and made a noise of appreciation. “You called me Jin-ah,” he pointed out, voice dripping with adoration. Jin gave Ahn-Bo a quick kiss on the nose for it, sure that his face had twisted into something equally lovesick. As for the matter at hand—

Araso,” Jin chirped. He hadn’t particularly wanted to stop and go to breakfast either but at least he’d tried. Maybe they could sneak a snack break between classes; if Ahn-Bo-ah’s tummy started to hurt. He grinned again and tugged Ahn-Bo back towards the piano. It was a much easier cover (if they were found) that he was showing his classmate something he was writing rather than them just standing here and jumping apart like they had something to hide. Which— sure, but they needn’t be so obvious about it!

Sliding into the seat, Jin patted the vacancy next to him. “So it looks like we’re working,” he clarified conspiratorially.

In the seconds between Seojin-a giving in to his complaint and their returning to the bench, Ahn-Bo was rather satisfied with himself. His friend could be horribly stubborn at times, and he hadn’t truly expected to be able to stay here together. And yes, he was very hungry, partly because his stomach was well attuned to when mealtimes were (he didn’t even need to know the time, that’s how reliable it was), but also because the early morning practice had taken a lot out of him.

The sound of his vampire’s delight at the new name made him decide then and there that would forever be what he called him. Jin. Nae Jin-a. The sweet kiss on the nose and swoony look in his eye solidified it. Ahn-Bo asked anyway, a swoony grin on his face, “Do you like it?” Mostly because he just wanted to hear Jin-a gush over it, and maybe kiss him again. Anything that would keep the vampire looking at him like that.

The quidditch player ignored his stomach letting out another unhappy rumble. It was worth it. There was no doubt in his mind as he followed Seojin-a back to the bench like a puppy. “Always so clever,” he commented appreciatively as he slid down beside him, and then his smile turned teasing, “It almost seems like you’ve done this kind of thing before.” Which to be fair, could have been possible. But Ahn-Bo chose to believe that it wasn’t. This was his first time doing something like this, so it had to be Jin-a’s as well.

The look on Ahn-Bo’s face was far too pleased as he questioned Jin, causing the half-vampire’s stomach to flutter a little bit. He was always pleasantly reassured when it became apparent that Ahn-Bo tried to do things to make him happy. (Because of course he did, Jin knew that. And he did the same thing back. But the reminder of it every so often made him grin like a lovesick moron.) “Ne,” Jin chirped with a nod. “I don’t think anyone has ever called me that before.” His face heated as he said it but he didn’t mind. It was special. It was theirs. Pressing a sweet little kiss against Ahn-Bo’s cheek, Jin moved towards the bench and tugged the quidditch player along.

The sound of Ahn-Bo’s stomach rumbling tugged at Jin’s guilt again. He almost triple checked that Ahn-Bo really, really didn’t want to go for breakfast (he wasn’t going anywhere, they could certainly do this again later) but he didn’t have time before Ahn-Bo slid in beside him with a chirppy little compliment. Jin laughed, distracted. “Wae? Hiding my intentions from the Seonsaengnims?” he teased lightly. “Of course not.” An outright lie, and they both knew it. But Jin’s irises glimmered with mischief as he turned back a page in his notes and made as if he was going to play. Then, just when he thought he had Ahn-Bo-ah off guard, he turned quickly and kissed him again. Ne. This was much better than breakfast.

The nickname earned him another little kiss to add to his growing hoard collection. From here on out, his sole purpose in life would be to figure out how many different things he could do that would get him another one. It was far too early for him to have been assuming when he’d get one—such as following Jin-a to the bench—but that didn’t mean he didn’t get a bit sulky when said kiss was not immediately given. Well… he hadn’t been specific when he’d said he wanted to stay here together. Maybe his friend had misinterpreted what he’d meant? Although how he could do that was beyond Ahn-Bo when he thought the implied meaning was perfectly clear. Though maybe the vampire wanted a bit more time to focus on his song. He had been interrupted before he’d been finished, after all.

Ahn-Bo supposed he could be patie—the quick kiss had been so unexpected that he’d received it with open eyes. And then he burst into a laugh at himself and how clever (yet again) Jin-a was. ”Ani,” he giggled. (Ew, he was giggling now. Yet another thing to cringe over whenever he struggled to fall asleep as an adult.) ”I meant hiding in empty classrooms with your favorite person.” Himself, obviously. He bumped Jin-a’s shoulder with his own and then twisted to press another kiss (lingering, let’s be honest) to his friend’s lips.

”Will you play another song for me, Jin-a? I like watching you play.” And if Ahn-Bo made that a little difficult because he planned to press quick kisses to the vampire’s cheeks, ears, neck, hair, and wherever else he could reach that would have Jin-a laughing, then it would be all the more entertaining for them both.

Jin was thrilled with the way his little trick went over. He’d absolutely meant to startle Ahn-Bo-ah with his feigned disinterest and it worked perfectly. Rewarded him even with a soft sound that was definitely a giggle. Jin laughed again at the shoulder bump and pretended to shrug. He couldn’t even tease back by pretending Ahn-Bo-ah wasn’t his favorite person because neither of them would believe it for even a moment. He was the one and only— the most important in Jin’s whole little life. (Which, in retrospect, was a bit terrifying too.) The sweet, lingering kiss that Ahn-Bo gave him warmed Jin from the inside out however and chased away whatever fleeting fear might have come up at the thought. Their noses were only centimeters apart as he responded. “Well I don’t hide in empty classrooms with anyone else, if that answers your question.”

As for playing another song, Jin blushed again. “Ne,” he agreed, though he didn’t exactly pull back right away to make it possible. Not before sighing into one last kiss, resigned. A soft smile was still tugging at his dimples as he thought for a moment and then began to play a more lively little tune. “I wrote this one too,” he admitted, proudly. “With Cha-ssi’s help.” She’d given him the main refrain and Jin hummed it softly. “Go-saeng kkeut-e nag-i on-da~

It was silly to be so pleased with Jin’s answer. He had already known that he was his favorite of course, but knowing and having the knowing validated were two very different things. ”Good,” Ahn-Bo grinned.

The months he had spend flirting with his friend in (somewhat) disguised double meanings had been fun - though frustrating. Jin usually knew what he’d truly been hinting at, but chose to respond to the direct statements instead. It was like a breath of fresh air now, being able to just say the things he’d been thinking and wanting directly.

And the kissing. They should have started the kissing well before now. If Jin would have kissed him when they’d been in that yomogi field that day in November, his collection would have been four times larger than it was now. Well, they would just have to make up for the lost time now.

Although he was distractedly slightly but the name of their classmate. She and Jin-a had seemed to get on well enough. She was certainly far more musically inclined than Ahn-Bo was. “Oh? Cha-ssi, hm?” he teased lightly as he listened to the fun melody Jin played, “Is this one about me too? Did you tell her it was?” The lyrics fit perfectly with the hardship of not knowing what it was like to kiss his friend. And now that he did, there was nothing but happiness. Speaking of… he pressed a half-hazard line of small kisses across Jin-a’s cheek as his friend played the tune, a teasing grin on his lips.
