Sweetie Whitledge — Played by Kelly
September 28, 1895 - Ministry of Magic; Department of Mysteries
So yes, only the Mystery peeps can come and play
Another day in the office, although there was one large case that stood out among the rest that Sweetie kept coming back to. It was all hands on deck, as the fog claimed an entire town and seemingly many lives in the process. There were plenty of possibilities as to what it could be. How it had happened seemingly spontaneously was the most intriguing of all. She was still attempting to look through the files for the Fog incident in Hogsmeade of '88. That artifact certainly had strange properties. The investigative team of volunteers had disappeared for an entire month, to be alive by the end of it all. Perhaps similar properties? But what more, as there are obviously key differences. This fog simply cannot spread into Hogsmeade. There was no telling if anyone was coming back this time.
"Perhaps this is similar to the incident from 1845 in India*. There was a similar fog, individuals disappeared. Only to be recovered two years later with no recollection of time passing. Several artifacts were listed as key components on the sight. The items were said to have properties of [REDACTED]," there were several other cases with similar incidents. None of the artifacts had the exact same outcomes or direct impact. There were times when the fog altered moods or cast illusions, and that would be the tamer examples. Yet Sweetie was unsure if this was simply a new case of an artifact mishap all over again. Had someone done this deliberately? Or was this experimental magic? Something to do with the dead in a way that they still were in the infancy of researching?
Redacted because Kelly doesn't have the info that Sweetie does, but this person does hear what Sweetie is saying.
*Just remember kids, the rest of the Ministry has no idea wtf the Department of Mysteries has in its files. Outside of Sweetie and co., even the wiki don't know ;)

No one had returned from being Vanished in the mists. It was a puzzle that everyone was trying to solve but the hope that they might be brought back somehow seemed to have diminished greatly. The chances of them returning seemed slim and this time it was more a mist than a fog.
"It could be," Freddie said in agreement to his fiancee. "Either way, my personal thought is that this was caused by someone. The question there though would be who and why? Someone with a distaste for muggles and wizards that mingle with them?" There were certainly many such sorts in the wizarding world.

Judy Hatchitt — Played by Jen
It had been just over two weeks since she'd been caught up in the latest Wizarding World Disaster that was the Vanishing Mists - and the encounter had been far too close than she would've preferred. She'd been looking after her neice and nephews and giving their parents a break when the Mist began to unfurl and cause anything it touch to simply disappear. The resulting chaos had been horrific - and trying to ensure her niece and nephews were kept safe throughout the entire event had been a taste of parenthood that had certainly not been appreciated. The wait afterwards for her siblings and the impending reality that she was now It for the kids had also not been appreciated.
Parenthood had not been in her plan - her home certainly was not set up for kids so she'd bought the now orphaned kids to stay with the best parents she could think of - people who had parented her far better than her own had anyway. Aunt Beatrice could fix anything and did the best that she could and by the end of Judy's leave of absence they'd decided that the kids were settled and staying with her was for the best. Judy really wasn't settled. She worked long hours and lived in essentially was a room designed for one. She wasn't setup for kids.
If she was being honest she would be pleased if the incident resembled the 1845 incident. Yes the individuals and their families lost two years out of their lives but at the end of the day they had been alive... but it felt like a cruel hope- some sort of denial - to even properly consider that possibility. She tried to think about it properly. There seemed to be far too many differences from the incident.
"I agree with you Freddie - the way it just appeared without warning or a history on a day where people were gathered together in a way they usually wouldn't - as if somebody chose a day that would cause the most chaos. The records we have of naturally occurring mists usually don't just occurr out of nowhere though whose to say with how new Irvingly is that it hasn't happened before. I mean it happens but I'd place money on somebody causing it first."

Sweetie Whitledge — Played by Kelly
On many days, the unknown felt exhilarating. Never a second thought as to the outside world as Sweetie combed through file after file. Yet events such as these held a different sort of weight towards them. So many lives now seemingly lost. The Whitledge family were knew their own share of grief and it hit home in a way that she carefully guarded in her posture, her eyes. Yet the shuffle of her papers was just a bit faster than normal. More temperamental and less precise. If one barely knew her, they wouldn't notice. Though, it would be hard to not get to know someone to some degree in these quiet halls.
Catching Judy's mention of mists, Sweetie found herself mentally reprimanding herself. There were few accounts for mists, few accounts for mists and fogs that didn't have some spirit or muggle lore attached, so Sweetie's mind begun blurring the two in her frustration and she began to wonder if she had been calling their current predicament a fog as though she had no clue what they were even doing. No time for that now, she didn't want to seem even more foolish than she already felt.
"Do we have record of any findings from the law enforcement's investigation?" Of course, that department was currently a train wreck. She was sure that former Minister Ross was doing his best, she had respect enough for him, but he was only there temporarily, and she was sure the wolves were circling... not to be crass. "From how it has moved, this could be planned. Target an event first, then the whole village, but what next? Simply stay in place?" The movement of the mist seemed more organized and less organic than any other nature-like magic that would be found to work independently of planned intervention.
