~— A B O U T — Hello! I'm excited to introduce my first ever Charming character, Aleksandra Belskaya. She's from Russia and has honestly lived there for her entire life, having arrived in Britain just last year, in 1894, so it's likely that most of her connections here are pretty recent. She's currently the History of Magic professor in Hogwarts after 15 years of being a successful scholar under a shady mentor back home. Her goal here is to try and teach the youth more, let's say, unorthodox/radical ideas than what's commonly present in the HoM curriculum—that is, as much as she can without raising suspicion to the headmaster, at least. FRIENDS/ACQUAINTACES: It's a bit hard to befriend Aleksandra since she's either severe or acidic/cynical most of the time, but I can imagine her being friends with people who are similar to her. COLLEAGUES: Hogwarts staff please!! And other scholars in general. STUDENTS: Would love to have a student (or maybe more than one?) that's really interested in Aleksandra's classes and meets with her out-of-hours to learn more stuff that's not part of the syllabus. DISLIKES: Just give me people that dislike her for literally any reason ever pls, I yearn for tension and snide remarks. ROMANCE: She is absolutely not actively searching to get entangled to anyone at all, but I can picture her having a messy situationship mayhaps and/or just casual hookups so...

Welcome to Charming!

So, I have several students in the school. Alys Gower is my first year and she is interested in the history and origins of magic and how it relates to her faith. This may be an option for a less than positive relationship as she has been brought up in a cult that has specific ideas on the origins of magic. Although you professor's interest in unorthodox teachings is a definite "in" for them.

Benedict Hunter is my history nerd and takes both History and Ancient studies. He is a charming young man who I feel like teachers enjoy being in their class so hopefully that would be a much more positive interaction.

Staff wise

Isla Bowen is my charms professor, she is of similar-ish age. She is very scholarly and uninterested in boys so would have those things in common. She spends time visiting Symposiums in other countries so perhaps they have already met prior to her joing school if you are interested? Perhaps they are even academic/personal friends.

Gianna De Pazzi and Dorothea Potts are the music instructor and hufflepuff matron respectively so they are options but are less likely to directly interact unless your professor enjoys classical opera which Gianna really does.

Outside of the school is have less options in general, but its always fun to write so can find a way .

Hey Ada!

I have Phineas Black, headmaster! Mostly everyone hates him and he hates everyone, so there might be some snideness to start... but personality wise they seem similar enough they might actually have it in them to be friendly, we could see xD

Student wise my troublemaker James Fletcher doesn't take HoM any more, but I'm sure she and everyone else has needed to tell him off before, so she might have heard of him lol. My other young 'un is Connor Sinnet who is kind of quiet and standoffish and (secretly, at least for now) a half-vampire, and pretty into history. He could be a candidate for doing a little extra learning on the side!

Hello and congrats on the first character.

I think Silas might fit into a general student category and under dislike. Which may be mutual from disruptions he may create in her classes. He is a first year and is still struggling to adjust to the magical world as a Muggleborn, one of both privilege and zealotry so is used to speaking his mind about topics that may clash with her curriculum. This could take place in a class thread, if you create one for First/Second years, or in a separate thread if you prefer less disruption.

As not to only offer a problem child, I have my other student Millie Potts, who is a NEWT student sadly not taking History this year but would have last year. She's also the book club president and enjoys reading about history, especially historical fiction, so there would be a common ground to discuss. Maybe Aleksandra even has suggestions for the book club!

Lastly, a tenuous connection, but my urchin Charley Goode would like to know where Aleksandra gets her perfume from. It must smell great to a girl who works in a flower shop all day, and Aleksandra might even be acquainted with the florist already, or could equally be skeptical of why a poor girl wants her perfume.

Poppy MacFusty is a first year Ravenclaw, so would be a student. She's very curious and naive, so I could see her getting extra tutoring if she found it particularly interesting.

Hi there! Welcome to Charming!

I'm afraid I have woefully little for you, but Margaery Lockhart is my firstie, so in her class. I feel like she would like it more than some of her peers, but it wouldn't be something she'd go beyond class in. Margie just lost her dad in September, so she's a little more reserved than she would be normally and will be for a while.

I also have a second year Ramona Pendergast but I'm pretty sure she almost failed HoM last year, so not her best foot forward either.

Both are bopping around though and available for threads!

Outside of that, I have Cordelia Emsworth and Min-kyu Yun as my more academic types. Delia is a botanist and Min is a naturalist/taxidermist. Brooks Watson could also qualify as an academic, he's an unspeakable who is super into weird magic etc, so might be a good professional contact!

Welcome to Charming, Ada! I'm coming back from a bit of a tumultuous past few months so while I have a few people for you I'm gonna try and keep it lite for both our sakes so I don't overcommit xDD

My closest connection would be Louisa Clearwater who's the Gryffindor House Matron! She's got a bit of a no-nonsense attitude so I imagine she would at least respect Aleksandra from a distance if anything! She also used to be a governess so they'd likely have something of interest in terms of overlap!

Omg I love Alys' plot! Aleksandra has actually written a paper cross analyzing muggle esoteric groups (Rosicrucians, The Odd Fellows, Freemasonry, Priory of Sion, Theosophy etc.) and the actual wizarding society so if she finds out about Alys' cult she'll probably be super interested in it and try to get closer to learn more lol

As for Benedict, Aleksandra greatly sympathizes with those who attend and take her lessons seriously so she'd enjoy having him in her class, yes!

Regarding Isla yess please give me them meeting while attending a symposium in Russia, I'd love that.

Lastly, as for Dorothea and Gianna I agree they probably wouldn't interact much. But as much as Aleksandra isn't into operas, she's not entirely against them so I suppose there's a thread opportunity where she could attend one sometime and discuss it with Gianna (and while Aleksandra doesn't care about opera much, I do, so I'd have the time of my life writing about it xD)

I think Aleksandra will unfortunately never be truly Phineas' friend because she has too much stuff to hide from the headmaster, but aside from her being careful about/with him I also am not entirely sure of how she'd act around him lol I think we need to see how it rolls in a thread xD

About your students, yeah she probably doesn't like James very much if he gave her headaches during HoM classes in his fifth year. And yay for extra learning for Connor, love him already!

Aleksandra would definitely be annoyed at Silas, but she's a bit more understanding with firsties and forces herself to be patient with them. I don't know when I'll get around to posting a class thread so I'm up for an individual one with him!

As for Millie, Aleksandra probably wouldn't have many recommendations for fictional books, but for interesting non-fiction she definitely does and is always delighted to discuss history (and topics from other subjects too).

And lastly for Charley, I actually love that so much. Aleksandra wouldn't be skeptical about it, she'd find it endearing and even offer to give a perfume to her (though not the exact scent because she likes being Unique so she'd chat with Charley to figure out which scent profile to work on).

Yeah unfortunately I can't think much for Aleksandra and your students But hopefully I'll get around to a class thread so they can interact *prayer emoji* (And also I'm already thinking of future characters including students so I shall have someone to offer as a friend to them stay tuned)

As for Cordelia, Minkyu and Brooks though I can see Aleksandra being acquainted/friends with all of them tbh!

Aleksandra would honestly be so happy to know someone in her class is aspiring to be a historian! She'd definitely be available at all times to help with any questions and teach him out-of-hours!

I took a look at Louisa's profile and Aleksandra would most certainly respect her as well, though she'd be led to believe in her head (at first, at least) that Louisa wouldn't like her because the matron seems to be very proper while she can't bother with doing all that xD
