2nd September, 1895 — Gus’ office
Jimmy had never visited a professor’s office this early in the year, he didn’t think. Well, not for any willing reason, at least. (He might’ve had a warning lecture or two in his first week before.)
So it was the first day of classes, still early in the morning, just after they’d gotten their NEWT timetables. Or – were supposed to have gotten their NEWT timetables. Jimmy’s had been... notably empty. Well, Ghoul Studies was a given, he was keeping that (which other class had ever made interacting with Peeves a homework assignment, eh?) – and he’d scraped through Herbology with an Acceptable, too, so that was an option. (Was this because Professor Skeeter had died, and they’d let anyone in this year? Or was it because Glynn had bolstered most of his projects up to standard? Jimmy didn’t know and didn’t especially care.)
But he needed a third NEWT subject to actually stay in the school. And he knew which one he wanted, but – his OWL grade had not exceeded expectations, so...
“Professor Lissington,” Jimmy said, once the door he’d been banging on finally opened; he barged in, thrumming with urgency. “You have to help me.”
