Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Ariel Sherington

So, I'm pretty sure at the moment we've got a ton of Upper Class incoming students with the pickings from the other classes being few and far between which is why I've put off doing this but I may be wrong. Here goes.

About Her:
Ariel is a warm-hearted girl with a passion for music and theatre. She's loyal, protective and not academically minded - she prefers to be social instead and focus her energies on her more creative outlets. (I'm sorry in advance). She belongs to a blended family - she was the middle child of her mothers first marriage but with her second marriage she gained three older step-sisters who are quite a bit older than her, and a step-brother who has left Hogwarts just as she begins it and now has three additional half-siblings and a fourth on the way. Her Mama is currently on bedrest due to complications which is giving her feelings.. Oh! And her step-siblings are all half-vampires so that's always fun.

Ariel is seeking the following for the rest of this month and August; and afterwards - well I suppose that depends on what house she gets sorted into (will update when that gets worked out as she will be sorted). I really am quite open here for ideas because I'm not exactly sure what my plans or future desires for her besides the "Arts" angle and I'm not sure I've got anything else - the inspiration for her character draws from reading about girls/women who bond over creating music, plays or writing... and my childhood and teenagedom of being a drama students and maaaybe talking people into participating in things with me. the scene in particular that comes to mind are the plays that the Little Women girls created in their childhood but I was inspired a dash of Francesca Bridgerton's music obsession. Plus... Kelly pimped her to me years ago when I was watching far too much Bluey...

Friends: She has sibling (and stepsibling which are probably less friendships and more hero worship) friendships which are nice however as a rather social character she may _actually_ have other friends. She is an incoming firstie but as I have previously stated I'm pretty sure my pickings are slim so I casting my net wider and looking for Middle Class children who could "live" nearby within about a four year leeway as her full brother, Malachai Sherington, (AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION), was born in 1880 and I'm taking inspiration from the kids down the street who all hang out no matter the age because proximity helps and I will make things work even if it means making Ariel the little sister who has forced herself into his friendships. As long as they aren't prejudiced and are willing to accept her family I doubt anything will stop her. Played, Unplayed and I can name drop - honestly. Net. Wide. She unfortunately isn't like some other ruffian Caroline Weasley so connections are all I've got.

Potential Midwife Opening: Ariel's mother Sophie is currently on bedrest due to complications with her pregnancy. She's had five pregnancies and six children (twins) already.

Other: Her stepfamily are half-vampires (Acacia Darlington, Dunstan Ruskin and I suppose I'll tage the bro-in-law that caused a stir in the papers by marrying down Phillip Darlington) that may matter to you; it may not. Ariel has hero worship for them and believes them to be the most beautiful, wonderful, smart and intelligent beings ever. You cannot say anything wrong about them. This may give her enemies. I'm all for it. Strong feelings are the spice of life and keep characters interesting. It will also make her probably a little more aware than the average person of people who may be different if you want an additional complication she can be one. Alternatively, I also see her potentially growing this to extend into activism for all creatures especially with the Werewolf thing going on (whether she actually understands whats going on is a different question) or fancying herself obsessed with other half creatures and making poor decisions.

Ariel Sherington This character isnt finished approval but when she arrives she will be another MC firstie. Muggleborn so very magic naive and without any friends on this side of the divide. Shes a bit odd as she has been raised in a cult but is an option for a friend of similar class

Alys Gower - if you are up for some first year shopping threads we can wing a pre-hogwarts encounter. I've made a list of threads I want to tick off for Ariel for the next few months (having become learnt my lesson with my previous firsties) if there are any you'd like to do.

Going to post my to do list/ Want list here

3. Robes (Kelly interest / Acacia)
4. Books / Supplies / Cauldron - [Alys / Chris?]
5. Pet - [OPEN]
6. Boat Ride - [OPEN]
7. Sorting (at Feast. After Sorting Thread Complete)

Poppy MacFusty (Hamish and Violet's eldest) is an incoming firstie that lives in Irvingly. She loves reading and storytelling, so I could see her taking part in the plays if cajoled. She's academic but I don't think she'd be bothered to have friends who aren't. The wand shopping thread could be fun since her uncle(s) are the Ollivanders.

I can get one started! I'm assuming she'd be getting her wand at the Hogsmeade branch?
