January 28th, 1894 - Great Hall

Blair had not remembered a lot from the night of Halloween but over December had begun to have several quite worrying flashbacks which warranted further investigation. A secret trip to a seer in Hogsmeade, a memory spell, and the teenager was now horribly well-informed. How had they become that drunk? They had thought they had been careful, but apparently, they were mistaken.

The absolute worst part though, something that mortified Blair beyond anything was their behaviour in front of Mr Whymper. The prefect had kindly escorted them back to the dorm but not before enduring ridiculous behaviour finished off with watching Blair emptying the contents of their stomach off of the bridge to the Ravenclaw tower. He had not been mean about it, and he had not spread things about them about the house, as far as Blair knew, still only he, the matron and themselves knew what had occurred. And for this, Blair was grateful.

So today, Blair had been up early after acquiring a few supplies from the market and speaking very kindly to the kitchen staff. In front of the redhead on the table was what Blair would think was a delicious Highlander breakfast, freshly cooked and accompanied by Charles's favourite breakfast drink.

Blair had also asked one of the other Ravenclaw boys to wait until Charles bathed and leave a little card on his pillow.

To be honest, Charles was surprised to receive a note from Miss Greyback that morning. He had mostly written off their interaction at Halloween as a strange one-off--there hadn't been a repeat experience, at least.

Still, he was headed down to breakfast anyway, so he arrived at Ravenclaw's table that morning curious. "Miss Greyback," he greeted as he reached her. "What's all this?"

Bonnie was pleased that Mr Whymper had attended as requested and had everything ready.

"Well, it came to me recently that my behaviour on Halloween had been quite shameful. But you took care of me. Furthermore like a gentleman you kept my shame between the two of us and didn't embarrass me, there are many that might have acted differently." the redhead smiled sweetly and poured the drink into his cup.

They sat down opposite with a kind of goofy smile on their face. "So thank you, and enjoy."

Halloween had certainly been a strange night, and in hindsight, Charles had wondered if there had been more going on than Miss Greyback had told him, but enough time had passed now that he hadn't given it much thought. Still, he said, "Well, I appreciate it, I guess."

He settled in, and took an experimental bite before asking, "And, er, are things... good now?"

Bonnie was pleased that Charles was accepting his gift graciously, as they expected he would be. Blair had no doubt that they were looking at the next head boy so it made sense.

"Oh yes, it was just a passing bug. I was a little unwell the following day but these things are sent to try us.". How the Ravenclaw had gotten away with being so awfully drunk was anybodies guess. Bonnie would be much more careful next time. "How is your breakfast?"

"That's good," Charles said. "And this is good," he said, indicating his food. "Thanks again. You really didn't have to."

The teen shrugged on one side. "I suppose not, but I'm glad you like it."

She thought for a moment to herself and thought again about her previous musings. "How do you think you would feel about head boy? Everyone knows you would make an easy choice for the professors. I do anyway." if Blair were allowed to gamble, she would put money on it. Unless of course some upper class student with the right father happened to sweep through and take it. Again.

Charles was glad he had a mouthful when Miss Greyback asked her question, because he really didn't know what his answer was. He took an extra moment to chew and mull it over before swallowing and saying, "I don't know. Part of me is worried the extra responsibility would distract me from NEWTs." He wasn't looking forward to the renewed studying he'd be doing as that got closer. "I'm hoping to go into healing after graduation. Don't want all this work to have been for nothing, you know?" He shrugged. "Have you given thought yet to what post-Hogwarts will look like for you?" he asked. Charles might have made some assumptions usually, but he assumed Miss Greyback, as a quidditch player, was probably at least a bit more unconventional than most.

Blair looked curious, "Is it much more responsibility than prefect. I think you'd be great. Sirius seems to get on OK." she laughed, everyone knew he would have an easy year being the son of the headmaster. The ravenclaw wasn't expecting the next question from Charles at all and took a few moments to thing.

"Well, I know what I'd like to do. Cut my hair short and live on my broom chasing snitches until I'm too old to ride....but...

Probably married off to another Highland family to barely ever see the islands again." Blair looked deflated by this prospect. Any dreams would likely be swept away by her duty as a daughter in an upper-class household. "How about you?"

"Oh." "Getting married" sounded like a pretty normal future for a lady to Charles, but not really when it was put like that. "My mother's a healer, and my father was one when he was still alive," he said. "Feels like the natural thing to do." And Charles hadn't given a lot of thought to what he'd do otherwise.

"So you'd work as a healer, that sounds fun. I'd recommend avoiding creature induced injuries, that looks... messy." she let out a big laugh at that. There was one magical creature in particular that she was quite familiar with the messiness of, not that she could ever say it. "Would try to stay in Scotland?" she asked, she didn't get the urge for so many people to move to London.

Charles laughed softly. "I didn't end up taking Care of Magical Creatures, so I don't think I could get into that ward, anyway," he said. The subject had seemed interesting enough when he'd been picking his electives, but he hadn't ended up picking it up. "That's the current plan," he went on. "I live in Hogsmeade now, and I'll probably stick around there for the forseeable future if that's where my family is. I'd rather be close to them if I can." Eventually he and Lottie would have their own, adult lives that didn't involve living under the same roof, but Charles had no plans of going far from his mother and sister.

Bonnie nodded "I'm taking that and transfiguration certainly, the other electives I'm not sure yet. But I've got a year to decide so…" the teen shrugged, she had an idea but she was in no rush to decide. If she got her way she could just stay in Hogwarts forever but that was probably the dream of most of the student body so she wouldn't bother voicing that.

"Wherever you end up they shall be very lucky to have you I'm sure."

Bonnie looked like she was readying to leave, she couldn't chew his ear off for too long, even if breakfast had been on her. "We should do this again… the breakfast I mean not the erm… other bit." the Ravenclaw laughed, coming a little too close to comfort to dropping in the word "drunk" and outing herself.

Charles smiled. "Thanks," he said, and he hoped she was right. "And sure. That'd be nice, I think." This had been a surprise, but a pretty pleasant one, all told.
