History:
[1877] Cecil and Beth Potts, along with their three children, join the magical community in their retreat to Hogsmeade. They find a place on the bustling corner of Wright Street and Bonham Close, where life goes on.
[1879] A fourth child is welcomed into their family, named Mildred for her mother's great-aunt. The pregnancy and birth comes as a surprise to the neighbors, who were more accustomed to Beth's sole command of her household more than Cecil's rare presence.
[1881] Edmund, the eldest child, graduates from Hogwarts. Mildred cries when he transfigures her stick-mounted kite into a small dragon. Only when Dorothea changes it into an owl instead does she relax.
[1883] Growing up in the cloistered city life is a delight for Mildred, though she never fails to accompany her mother to the market so they can pass by Grove Glen on their way home. The tall trees mystify her, and she can conceive of nothing in the world that could ever be taller.
[1884] Fletcher, her closest brother, enters Hogwarts just as her sister graduates. Mildred much prefers the company of her brother, until she spends more time with the sister who quickly becomes a role model for her.
[1886] Cecil's work takes him closer to home, often meeting with visitors in his home office. With the frequent expectation of playing hostess, Beth often loses track of Mildred, who wanders on her own. She is almost always found near the trees of Gnome Glen, resting or playing under their massive trunks.
[1887] Taken to playing within view, or at least earshot, of her home, Mildred enjoys the company of fellow children on Wright Street. They sometimes team up with Pluckering children to put the hellspawn of Bonham Close in their place.
[1889] Mildred often spends her days at home, rejoicing when her mother sends her to the market. She envies other children who can still freely play, Cecil doesn't approve of his daughter acting so wild and unrestrained. She always stops by her trees on the way home, leaving them tokens or resting easily under their shaded branches.
[School Year 1890-1891] In her first year at Hogwarts, Mildred is sorted into Ravenclaw. One of her new classmates, Zadie Hawkins, is a former rival from Bonham Close, whose family struggled to afford it and was forced to move away. They become better friends than they were enemies, Zadie inspiring Mildred to study hard and Mildred luring Zadie away to play instead.
[School Year 1891-1892] Her brother, Fletcher, graduates from Hogwarts, leaving Mildred as the youngest Potts left at the school. Cecil informs Mildred that he will make the same accord with her as he did with Dorothea; if Mildred studies well enough to get all Es or above on her O.W.L.s, she can remain at Hogwarts for the rest of her studies. Otherwise, she will attend a finishing school after her fifth year.
Mildred is bitterly displeased by the news, and utterly distraught when her friend, Zadie, is absent that year when poor grades and worse finances deny a return. She spends part of the year in a funk, only barely passing her year-end exams.
[School Year 1892-] Mildred returns to Hogwarts for her third year, more determined than ever to surpass her father's expectations. She takes a renewed interest in Transfiguration, the only class she did well in her second year.

Quote:A warm fire flickered in the hearth, its snaps and crackles a humming drone in her ears. The young lady was grateful that her book fit inside A Collection of Above Three Hundred Receipts in Cookery, Physick and Surgery, the massive tome she had checked out for her Potions essay. She turned the page, telling herself it was time to close her novel and turn her focus to the actual work; the heavy book she had propped up between her lap and arms wasn't about to get any lighter, to hold or to read. It was her own fault, she decided, letting her eyes pick the book for her assignment instead of her brain. She wouldn't read this textbook until her fourth year, yet somehow it sat in her hands, collecting dust as her eyes consumed the exploits of Sir Harry Montague, Wizeknight-Errant.
"What do you think, Millie?"
The voice snapped the young lady from her reverie, quickly shutting her book without a thought to the page number. Her return to the present day was accompanied by a smattering of giggles, as Millie tried hard to force the heat from creeping further up on her cheeks. "I think it sounds perfectly reasonable!"
More giggles met her ears, pumping the billows in her cheeks. Even near the outer edges of the room, with the best lighting for reading, the young lady could feel the hearth flames directly under her chair. She spread her bare feet to the furthest edges they could reach before fleeing her completely, and Millie might have waved them farewell if she could only go with.
"You don't even know what we're talking about, do you?"
"No," the Potts girl admitted, tucking her eyes down to the pages of her dusty tome instead. She kept them steadily above the line of her treasured novel, finding a renewed sense of focus for the first time in an hour. "I was distracted by," she began reading aloud, "'An Ointment for a Burn.'"
"I'm sure you were," one of them said knowingly. She didn't say more, and Millie was glad for the lack of reproach. The young lady drew the book up to her robes, leaning over the top of it at the group expectently. Finally, another offered to let her back in on the discussion. "The fight on the quidditch pitch? A group of Hufflepuff fourth years cornered some of our second years."
"Oh!" Millie sounded surprised, and it was genuine. She hadn't heard the news yet, and her cheeks tried to flush again. Instead, she sat forward some more, leaning in for what was certain to be gossip repeated ad nauseam at the dinner table in an hour. The young lady would rather spend her time on Sir Harry Montague, or even burn ointments. Still, she didn't want to look like a complete lump, it was better to show interest now than have the whole dinner table piling onto her. She even put a small grin on her face, "Did we win?"
Even more giggles, but now they sounded like the pleasant sort, greeting Millie's ears with a warm satisfaction of being in on the joke. Her Potions essay could wait another hour or two.
