This was it then. Any hope she'd had shattered right then and there, it was useless to try and reason with him, despite the numerous reasons for them to try, he was unwilling and she couldn't change that. Nothing she could say or do to prove what she'd said was the honest truth of it would work. It was all falling on deaf ears.
"Then don't," Daffy released his jacket and wound her arms protectively around herself. "Do us both a favor and keep walking next time." Angry tears streamed down her face as the frustration bubbled over. He could play it calm and collected all he wanted (even if she knew he was angry too) but she was and always had been an open book where he was concerned.
"I hope things work out for you," She meant it to. If they were struggling financially, she hoped Noble could fix it and ensure his sisters were well cared for, but it wasn't any of her concern anymore, no matter how much she wanted it to be. She had poured her heart out and would have given him the world if he asked, but it wasn't enough. She wasn't enough. And so they had to move on.
"Bye, Noble." She said as she moved past him up the staircase to her tiny flat, greeted by a worried Winston at the top. The floodgates opened then as she sank to the floor, sobbing.
