Gia cheered on Miss Flint as she managed to keep her wand. Gia had met the Slytherin girl this summer when she was a Rose. It was wonderful to see another possible friend showing aptitude. Gia very much hoped all her friends would want to keep learning new things with her. It would be so boring otherwise.
Gia had a new spell she'd been eager to try. Thinking of ballet class this summer, Gia giggled before performing her best "Tarantallegra!" Time to dance, Miss Flint!

The little Flint girl was pleased with her success and grinned at her opponent, ready for the next spell. It was a incantation she had never heard before but she didn't have time to think too much about it as this was all about reactions. "Protego" she cast quickly, flicking her wand in the hope she would block whatever was coming.

Silas only wished that his parents had seen fit to deliver the object of his wishes to him. He would have liked to wear that ushanka of Grandfather's about now, fashioned from the skin of a cub his grandfather had trapped on one of his African safaris, to bolster his own spirit. As had Daniel in the lion's den, Silas walked into class with his chin high and his eyes wide open, with only his faith as a shield.

He only carried his wand to ensure that Professor Lissington wouldn't yell at him for not doing so. Wands seemed quite important to magic in these classes, but Silas alone appeared to know the true key ingredient. Even if no one else was willing to follow him yet, he would abide by countenance alone. The boy spoke softly but firmly, repeating the prayer as a mantra to himself as well, "Your spells cannot harm me. Though I walk through darkness, I will not fear. Your spells cannot harm me..."

Whomever he faced, Silas would not face him alone. The mightiest of magic was on his side, and he had faith in Him who would wield it.

Arcturus knew what a prayer sounded like, he wasn't that ignorant. Plus he had CMJ relatives that prayed a lot like that. But they weren't complete weirdos like this one was. And they were roommates so Arcturus tended to try tolerating him since he would need to share a room with the other presumably for seven years. If the other didn't decide they were all too blasphemous for his sensibilities anyway. He shifted his attention to his partner in the class.

"Protego," he cast.
