One of the cheapest homeless shelters in Victorian London charged four pennies to sleep in a coffin. Which was... still better than sleeping upright against a rope? — Jordan / Lynn
If he was being completely honest, the situation didn't look good, but Sylvano was not in the habit of being completely honest about anything. No reason to start now.

Private
caution to the wind --
#5

Professor Foxwood grinned at her, and Juniper merely narrowed her eyes for a moment, soaking in his words as he rooted around his desk; he should really look at cleaning up, although she presumed a mess was good at hiding things. She could understand that. Juniper fidgeted in the seat before she stilled, her eyes flicking up to him as he continued to search around, hopefully for a quill so she could be on her way to the library.

“My father has been helping me and my sister during holidays; he has a fear of us getting stuck in a permanent half animal state, and would prefer we practice under his watchful eye. I shall write to him tonight.” She felt the need to explain, truthful or not yet to be determined, falling silent once Professor Foxwood stood, extending her a well-worn book. She blinked at it for a moment before she offered a weary smile, standing herself.

June accepted the book from him, tucking it against her chest as he rattled off information about it, before offering her yet another smile attached to homework. He did that far too often. She nearly scoffed - like she would write an essay, although she considered that actually being able to fly would be beneficial in more than one way. (Plus, if she helped him, perhaps Professor Foxwood would be more willing to help her.) Father's approval or not, she planned on at least attending the next meeting. “Thank you professor,” Juniper finally offered him a smile in return, “this will be very helpful. I am very hopeful to be able to choose a bat, although I suppose I shouldn’t be too picky.”

Her fingers tightened around the book, and she briefly wondered if he had studied from this exact - could he even transform? Then her fingers loosened, finding that the cover felt too soft under her fingertips. “Is there a date when you require this back?” Juniper tilted her head at him.

For a moment she stood there considering her next steps; she could walk out and bother Poppy (next time concocting a story with her that her cousin would believe - this entire situation had blown up in her face more than Juniper liked), or could continue on her quest to get into the restricted section. She was tired of tripping or falling backward every time she approached her sister, knowingly or not. “And Professor Foxwood?” Juniper hummed, “I promise you’ll see me in the restricted section soon.”

Then she winked at him. (Like it was their little secret.)
