Jack didn't know why he thought he'd get forthright in return but he was disappointed none the less. "Yeah...." he said, drawing the word out. He may have verbally agreed but everything from his squint to his posture advertised that Jack was almost at his limit of pretending to believe him. He stood there for a moment. Conflicted over what to do. Obviously he wasn't going to be able to wait him out but he also knew with absolute certainty that he couldn't just go home and risk leaving Daffy the Potts vulnerable to some rando lurking on the street.
"I'm going to go this way." he said nodding his head in the direction he'd just come, resolved to double back instead of going home. "And I'm going to trust that you'll find your way soon. Without trouble." He said the last sentence as firmly as he could manage without the authority his uniform usually granted him.
