He shouldn’t have been surprised at Ahn-Bo’s sudden backpedaling; Jin knew his brother was at the core sweet and gentle behind whatever facade he sometimes fronted, or the ego that made him reckless. But the apology did throw him a little off balance, enough that Jin frowned slightly. He wasn’t ready to take it down a notch. The sudden flush that bloomed on Ahn-Bo’s cheeks was perfectly welcome though, and Jin would have acted on it - done something or said something - if the interruption hadn’t been so prompt.
Where any other day, place, or time, Jin would have practically jumped out of his skin to be caught so red-handedly, here he only just managed to rock back a single step with a scowl falling over his features as he assessed who - or what - had dared to impeded their moment. What had turned out to be just the ticket…
A gremlin, maybe, had popped out of seemingly nowhere and his brother’s reaction to it was immediate. Ahn-Bo had turned, slightly, and forced regulation over his features which Jin could only find amusing. He was still annoyed that the little creature had barged in however, so when it asked a question he quickly barked “No,” at the same time that his brother agreed. Flashing the wolf a grumpy look, Jin quieted. Fine. If that’s what Ahn-Bo wanted.
They listened for what felt like forever as the gremlin prattled on and on about the different baths. Jin was only half listening as he ran a hand through his mussed hair and tidied himself up a bit. The buttons on his collar were long gone but with a little encouragement, he could at least play pretend that he looked somewhat respectable. (“Oh we can fix that for you, sir, if you’ll just leave it to the side for Marlowe,” the gremlin said as an aside.) When robes appeared in front of them, Jin snatched his out of the air with a bit of a huff.
He didn’t trust himself to say anything nice as the little creature disappeared and so Jin weathered his brother an appraising look. “You were quick to agree to a bath,” he declared, almost accusatorially. But the look that crossed Jin’s face was less put-out as a tease rose to his lips. “I suppose this is the fastest way to be rid of these horrendous English garments,” he sighed. Then, tossing Ahn-Bo an intentional look over his shoulder, Jin made towards the area the gremlin had pointed for them to change. They might as well get this over with.
