Dahlia's heart ached for her older sister, ached as she held her niece, ached as she snuggled close to Zinnia at night. Some nights she would go home to tend the kids, but she hated leaving Zinnia along. Unless Mama were around she often found herself loathe to leave her sister. Quin understood, or at least she hadn't given him much of a choice in the matter. Her sister needed her.

And with so many turning their attention to the fog Dahlia felt that Zinnia's grief had been much too forgotten. The evening was growing late and she'd read the babies a story before settling them down in the other room and returning to Zinnia. "I can stay tonight if you'd like." Dahlia told her sitting on the bed next to her sister.
