The Ravencrest family have their shades of oddities. Yes, their name is tied to a funeral business, but that is the middle class portion of the family. Nothing to worry your pretty mind about! At most, the men will publicly handle the finances and call it that. Sure, some of the ladies of Bella's family have leaned towards a career or two, but Bell herself has elected the charmed Society life that is deemed appropriate.

You should not know that she has a knack for manipulating memories, nor that this is utilized in the more illegal dealings that her family operates under. Furthermore, those are most certainly veela killing men in those woods outside of Hogsmeade and various countrysides. Any witness would have a hazy memory at best, or perhaps even recall such a monstrous creature in its sinister bird-like form.

Public Childhood	Belladonna and her brother were rarely seen and never heard when it came to the public at large. Nothing noteworthy was ever seen, aside from possibly the family elegance of high lace and overtly formal appearance, even by the times standards. Bella's mother expected perfection and that was what she got.
Mafia Childhood	On the whole, both Ravencrest parents were largely distant. Busy with the family duties as a whole and having no interest in young children. The nanny was... rather intense, to say the least. Mother expected perfection and the children would never know of the other two... disposed of nannies that came before over the slightest failings before Mother decided that this one met her standards. As Bella grew, she learned elegance and the art of subtle. Groomed for the family business, she was shown spells she would need to utilize despite needing to wait to actually practice until she was of age. There were exceptions when the family felt obliged to bribe a Ministry official when it suited them. At the age of eight, Belladonna was taken to see an enemy of the family be interrogated for information before ultimately facing a gruesome demise. This was the first, yet far from the last, time that she would be pervy to such brutalities.

Early Hogwarts Years	Hogwarts itself is by and large uneventful in Bella's first few years of walking the halls and taking the classes. She works diligently, not wishing to face her mother's wrath should she earn any less than perfection. Any semblance of extra curriculars lay in clubs associated in school topics that she finds herself struggling with. Despite all of this, she finds magical beings and, dare she say, beasts absolutely fascinating. Not for their intellect, but for what she perceives as their innate savagery. Even before she enters her third year, she finds her time in the library reading books on these fascinating creatures while not working on class assignments. When electives did roll around, Bella chose CoMC, Ghoul Studies, and Divination. To stop her parents from asking too many questions... or worse, she reasoned that CoMC and Divination was for the sake of knowing one's enemy. In reality, that was more divination. She couldn't care less about that subject, yet she would strive to do well for the sake of appearances. Her fascination kept her going throughout discussions of magical creatures, and an uncanny glint in her eyes began appearing when a grim detail would come up - if anyone ever thought to notice. Summers are spent studying spells that are far less socially accepted and/or legal. While she cannot practice per-say on most occasions, her readings and beginnings of memorization grow increasingly. She begins taking a particular interest in legilimency by her third year.

Ancient family legend speaks of three witches who clasped hands and made lifelong promises hundreds of years ago. They would always be best friends and grow old together. As the years passed, each became a powerful witch. With the promise in mind, the three opened shops in Diagon Alley.

The eldest was talented in the caring of magical beasts, so she opened Fangworth's Feather & Fang Menagerie. The middle was talented in divination and potions, so she opened the Tarot Tea House & Parlor. The youngest was talented in memory charms, so she opened Ravencrest Funeral Home & Mourning Services.

Together, they built an empire that gave them wealth, power, and fame. Still, the three dined together each night, and all was well. As the years went by, they married and had children.

And then, the empire collapsed. Some say it was over a man, others say over power, and others over money. Each family insists that they were wronged. Corruption, manipulation, and threats choked their love for each other, replacing it with ambition, hatred, and jealousy.

Whether this legend reflects historical truth or family mythology remains unclear, but their descendants continue the feuds as if the ancient betrayals happened yesterday. Each family maintains their own version of the "truth."

Each family has developed unique internal structures—from the Eventides' seer-based succession system to the Fangworths' traditional bloodline inheritance to the Ravencrests' formal voting councils. Ministry infiltration runs deep, with family plants in multiple departments creating webs of conflicting loyalties and information warfare.

They're rumored to run as much of magical Britain as the Ministry itself, though there isn’t any proof. They’re discreet in their dealings, enough so that the Ministry can't touch them—or won't, thanks to their careful machinations. The families engage in constant client poaching, operational interference, and blackmail networks that create mutual assured destruction. Meanwhile, their children attending Hogwarts together form cross-family friendships that threaten traditional rivalries, adding generational tension to ancient feuds.

The families themselves have grown in numbers—marriages and births, "adopted" outsiders, and debtors have all been taken in and given the family's surname. It is both a protection and a threat. You belong with—and to—them. Every member (even the children) is expected to contribute to the business for the good of the family.

Over time, rifts within the families themselves have caused disparities in wealth and hierarchy. Some have hoarded wealth for themselves, others live comfortably, and others barely scrape by, assigned roles no one else wants.

And beneath it all, torment, darkness, and secrets.
