Jin was surprised at Moon-ssi’s sudden exclamation. He couldn’t see anything to be impressed about… His notes were a mess. Giving the other a skeptical, worried look, Jin wondered how bad Moon-ssi’s own writing could possibly be. (It had to be pretty messy for him to think Jin’s dancing squiggles were neat or tidy and the thought almost made him laugh. It seemed fitting somehow.) Steeling his features instead, he raised a brow at the subsequent plea. Share?? Nobody had ever asked him that before. In fact, Seonsaengnim had scolded him profusely for writing so illegibly he couldn’t be graded. The embarrassment still stung in Jin’s cheeks at the thought.
Blushing now, he mumbled a quiet little noise that sounded suspiciously like hah! “If you can read them,” he added shyly. Jin nudged the books in Moon-ssi’s direction and watched. He felt as if, for whatever reason he couldn’t name, Moon-ssi was going out of his way to pretend to be nice to him and it was a conflicting feeling. On the one hand, Jin was still waiting for the other shoe to drop; for someone to come hurling out of the bushes and slap him for daring to speak at all. But on the other, he was almost ready to slap himself for hoping that… well… maybe—
“Are you behind in Gyunhyeongsul then?” He heard himself ask. Heterochromatic eyes were wide and inquisitive as they turned on Moon-ssi again. “I’m not… great, but I can always help you. If you like.” His voice died out on the tail end of that statement, confidence dipping.
