It turned out that the common daisy was more interesting that it appeared after all! According to her textbook, there were more than 20,000 types of daisies in existence, going as far back as 2,200BC (how strange to think about!), used by both muggles and magic folk alike for its medicinal properties. Turned into oils, balms, and ointments, it could be used to soothe aches and pains and heal wounds. Magically, it was a common ingredient used in Shrinking Potions. Care-wise, they were considered low maintenance plants, though one should be careful to make sure it is not left in the sun too long or overwatered otherwise they'll wilt.
Having learned the latter, Leni eagerly wrote her name down on the plant to put on the windowsill later. Taking care of the daisy plant didn't seem too complex, and she was curious see it keep growing and thriving under her attention. She wondered if she would be able to send some to her Mama, or give some to the potions master for ingredients - she was sure it would be appreciated.
She was near enough to hear Alys whisper under her breath about the valerian root and the muggleborn boy's - Merlion, she believed it was? - and Miss Di Visconti's replies to it, and Leni eyed the Slytherin girl critically. "Sure, but there's no need to be rude about it." Leni defended. The muggleborn boy had a hard time enough after yesterday, there was no need to make it harder.
