Another day, another ball, as was to be expected. Such was the life of a debutante, and while Edelweiss had mentally prepared herself for the constant schedule of paying visits and taking calls, there was still a bit of a learning curve to it all. Be introduced, make small talk — oh, and try not to be overwhelmed by the triggering of her sensory abilities when applicable; which happened when she was around most people, of course.
Dear Merlin.
It was enough to make her head spin some nights. She hadn’t expected this kind of side effect. It shouldn’t have been any worse than being at school - she had been able to tolerate being around so many students and their disruptive auras, so why would being in Society be any different? Ada had been trying to contemplate why this would be when she suddenly realized she was about to walk into someone right in front of her. A quick sidestep prevented that social faux-pas from happening, however she immediately walked into someone else. A gasp left her as she stumbled before two hands shot out to steady her, a foreign tongue reaching her ears as it happened.
For all the effect that this voice had on Ada, it might not have mattered if it was in English or some other language she could understand. All that mattered was the air around her suddenly seemed to vibrate, pulling her towards this person who had just steadied her. “I-I’m so sorry,” She stammered, looking up at the person in front of her, eyes wide as she took them in.
