What would you like to change about yourself this year? This is the only question posed by the enigmatic middle-aged witch at the Diagon Alley booth. A tiny table, half a tent to shield from rain or snow; clearly an improvised, temporary affair. The sign reads CHANGES. There is no listed price, though the woman will request payment after hearing your request. Then she will hand you what appears to be an entirely ordinary bonbon from a space beneath the table.

The bonbons... make changes! Depending on your request these may be immediately obvious to your character or others, or may not be realized for weeks or months. These could be physical (good opportunity to change your play-by?), personality changes, or a change of circumstance. They must be self-contained — eg, it can't make someone fall in love with you, but it could make you more confident or charming.

The Ministry's Improper Use of Magic office (hi Evander Darrow!) will get wind of this and shut it down, and formally recommend everyone impacted report to the Ministry for assistance undoing the changes. Whether you choose to do so or want to keep your new you, that's up to you... but this is rather experimental magic done entirely without regulation, so odds are good if you keep the effects too long the spells might start to break down, potentially with unexpected side-effects and consequences.

These changes may have a monkey's paw vibe, too — be careful what you wish for, it might not happen exactly the way you want!
