Gideon shrugged as Quin pointed out his exaggeration. "Hundreds or not," he said after another drink of his firewhiskey, "It's been fun regardless." Though, running into one of said fun times and finding out the little scamp of a boy was actually a girl and his daughter had been a bit of a shock to the system. He supposed he hadn't really had to take her in the way he had. A lot of men likely wouldn't. But something had flared up inside of him as he'd seen the way Billie's mother had treated her. A protective sort of thing came up and he knew he had to do right by her since her own mother apparently couldn't manage such a thing.
