One of the cheapest homeless shelters in Victorian London charged four pennies to sleep in a coffin. Which was... still better than sleeping upright against a rope? — Jordan / Lynn
If he was being completely honest, the situation didn't look good, but Sylvano was not in the habit of being completely honest about anything. No reason to start now.

Phin hadn't gone home. He hadn't specifically told anyone that he wasn't going home, and hadn't fully made the decision so much as put off packing up his things so long that there was too little time left to do it.

He thought he might feel weirder about spending Christmas at school, but he'd woken up this morning feeling more relaxed than Phin had probably ever felt waking up at home, and if that didn't tell you everything you needed to know, he didn't know what did. He wondered if anyone thought it was weird that the headmaster's son was staying at school over the holidays, and then wondered if it would just be understood that no one would want to be in that close proximity with Phineas Black, Sr. for so long.

"Pass those potatoes, would you?" Phin said to one of the other people near him. At least Christmas dinner at Hogwarts was festive enough to make up for having to be there.

Jocasta had chosen to remain at school for the winter, she had do few friends in England outside of school that she felt she might be better served trying winter boarding. If she didnt like it, she simply wouldn't do it again.

With so many people home, seating arrangements were a little more relaxed for the meal so Joy had decided she might go and spend some time with family. He wasnt family that people spoke particularly highly of, but he was her uncle's namesake which was a position of honor. "Here you go, Phineas. Might you pass me back the cranberries." she asked politely as she handed over a tray of steaming potatoes, carefully enchanted to be cool to touch while still keeping the potatoes hot.

"Have you received any Christmas post?'
