Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Er-HEM~

Since I'm silly and didn't think about the premise enough, I am here with a question. THIS thread was intended to give Nacho and Charlie some angst but someone made a good point that even if there are other matches besides the ones staff rolls for (which was the intention)-- other players may not know what random days we make up things and then... consequently have a mis-alignment.

Howwwww has this been dealt with in the past? Do I post a PSA somewhere asking if the date works for peeps? Do we just avoid it altogether? What about training matches? xD Practices?! (How can I have Charlie hit Nacho with a bludger without waiting until May.) I have SO MANY questions! Anyway, ty in advance. <3

P.S. What if we just put a month and not a full date? Does that make a difference?

There could always be practice matches. Or matches via the quidditch club.

Agree, and happy to switch it to a not-legit match, but I think the date/players confusion still stands.

But I like this suggestion, ty Jordan!

I like the idea of practice or non-tournament matches, frankly, and I think there were a lot more in the books than we saw or schedule for Charming.

Personally, I think more flexibility sometimes works for stories. Toss a thread in Plottage or the message board ICly posting when practice matches will be, or club matches if you go that route, and then we are all so notified.

I bet even some of the Quidditch team captains have players who would appreciate initiative on the part of others to organize this kind of thing so stories can bloom.

^Agree but would personally also very much like Staffs input and take on things~

I have not discussed more broadly with Staff but as far as I know (!) the only proper quidditch matches are those on the student roster -- like in the books and on the HP wiki, the quidditch matches a year are few and far between (with regular house training sessions in between). Obviously these official matches' outcomes are subject to rolls and the dates and team rosters are pretty fixed.

So I would suggest making it a Quidditch club match instead! If the team captains and faculty adviser were played, you could run the date past them or allow them to organise a mini schedule OOC to coordinate, but otherwise in this case I think there's the flexibility to run wild and pick any date that suits! Happy for you to imagine the blue/red team rosters are less firmly fixed (i.e. people could sub in to cover positions), as it's a club and more for fun/practise... which then also gives people leave to not participate in a match if the timing doesn't jive with their IC plans xD

Alternatively you could make it not part of any standard team practise and just free hours where they have both come to the quidditch pitch to practise individually and Nacho has been a dick :P

Makes sense, thanks Mj!

I’m going to make Nacho’s thread an unofficial scrimmage Ravie v Gryff and whoever wants or is able can be a part of it. Nacho isn’t in any clubs and he’s not stupid enough to trust Charlie won’t nail him if they’re alone bahaha. So my thought is— some house team players might be there, some aren’t, some might not even be ON the house teams. Free for all, as needed. <3

He’s trying to mind his own business this year and support his house, he’s just not good at it lol.
