One of the cheapest homeless shelters in Victorian London charged four pennies to sleep in a coffin. Which was... still better than sleeping upright against a rope? — Jordan / Lynn
If he was being completely honest, the situation didn't look good, but Sylvano was not in the habit of being completely honest about anything. No reason to start now.

March 18th, 1894 - MoM Main Reception

Harvey stood at the main welcome desk, idly tapping the pads of his fingertips on the smooth surface waiting for a delivery of new snitches. It was near lunch time and he found his energy lacking today. So were his patience. Harvey was starting to find this was a new mode for him and he couldn't quite explain it. He used to be a much more outgoing and personable person and if he wanted to continue to advance in his career he was going to have to find that spark again. Too much loss and last night, too much drink, had soured him a little bit.

He was going to need to figure it out and soon.

It would have to wait however, as he finally saw the man coming in with the small chest of snitches. What happened next, seemed to happen in slow motion. A collision with somebody rushing through the atrium had the man losing his balance, the chest coming loose from his grip and hitting the floor at the exact angle it would take to break it wide open.

The snitches flew from the chest with vigor in every direction imaginable and Harvey could only stand there and watch, transfixed as the two dozen tiny terrors were set free upon the ministry.

Alexander had gone for an early lunch since he had been out on the field, taking care of a doxy infestation at a London home. He headed into the atrium just in time for something to whiz past his face which nicked him. "What the-," he started, surprised by the sudden brief, sharp pain. Luckily it was more akin to a paper cut than anything else.

And besides, he was soon in awe at the sight of a bunch of golden snitches flying this way and that. Was there some sort of interdepartmental Quidditch game going on and no one had told him?

It was another day at work, and Cash was on his way to the Tutshill Tornadoes stadium to approve modifications to the stadium. He would have to get lunch on the way back, or something — he was not feeling particularly invigorated by the Ministry today. He was on his way out when snitches started flying past him.

Cash did not think about either of the blond men, or about the inconvenience of snitches in the atrium. Instead, he reached out, captivated, to catch one.

Was he going to get fired for this or..? Because it wasn't his fault, he just happened to be the one responsible for the deliver and now he had absolutely no idea how to go about catching all of the damn thigs. They had to be impervious to charms right? Being able to freeze one in a match would be cheating and so he thought that was an unlikely method of retrieval.

He watched as everyone ducked and covered, feeling from the escapees. Harv glimpsed Lestrange casually pluck one out of the air and he looked at his colleague like he might be the solution. "Lestrange, how do we get them all back?" He said, mildly panicked as he approached, bobbing his own head to stay out of the path of getting hit.

Cash ran his thumb over the snitch in the appropriate way to turn it off; he dropped the deactivated snitch into his jacket pocket. He happily could have picked every snitch out of the air for the rest of the day, but he didn't think that would go over very well with their supervisors. "Freezing charms work," Cash suggested after a second, "If you don't want to catch them."

As if to demonstrate, he reached out and grabbed another snitch with a flick of his wrist.

Harvey managed to keep the mocking reply in his head, but damn if he didn't want to sock Lestrange right now. "Helpful," he managed instead, firing off a charm as one came near his head. It did indeed freeze, falling to the ground motionless. Great, two down, twenty-two to go. "Think you could help out with that?" It was technically Harvey's problem, but considering Lestrange was in his department, it would be nice to get a little assistance.

Harvey would get the former quidditch player a broom himself if he could at least get the bulk of them.

"I'd prefer they don't get out the front doors," he turned to the receptionist, who thankfully took the cue and went to close the doors for the moment. At least they were mostly contained to the atrium.

"I can help," Cash said — and set about doing just that. He would have much rather gotten a broom and caught the snitches, but freezing them was nearly as good. Nearly.

Eventually they caught all the snitches and Cash went back to his regular, worse, work.
