Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

September 2, 1895 - Earth Magic Classroom, Hogwarts

Bells was unsurprised by the small size of her NEWT level courses. She was hoping that as more students found out what Earth Magic was over the next few years she might see more. But until then she was content with the small intimate course.

"Good morning ladies." She greeted the older girls as they trailed in, glad to see Miss Potts and Miss Grace had decided to continue into the NEWT level course. "It's so good to see you. I trust you have all had a wonderful summer?" She waited for their replies, smiling as they spoke.

"I am not sure if Miss Gamp has had the delight of your acquiantences yet." She turned to her only NEWT student from the year before. "Miss Gamp, this is Miss Grace and Miss Potts. Ladies, this is Miss Gamp." Introductions completed she pushed up to her feet from the seat she had occupied (it should be noted it had been a students' desk for the three girls and not her own desk), "If you'll be so kind as to follow me? I've a bit of a surprise for you today." And with that she led the girls from the classroom through the corridor and into the Earth Magic garden.

She loved the Earth Magic garden. It was her favorite place within the castle grounds. Tended by herself and her students it was a beautiful witches garden that never failed to make her smile. As she walked she spoke to the students behind her, "As I'm sure you have heard the second greenhouse met with misfortune this summer. I have some of the plants which were close to the blast and which I have promised Professor Carrow we will nurse them back to health." She led them toward the back corner of the garden where the plants were in their own tended bed next to a patch of herbs. "You shall be responsible for bringing to a full recovery." She informed them spinning around to face them again.

"Now, I have a two part question for each of you. Which spell would you use to heal one of these plants and what part of the year do you think would be the best time to attempt such a spell?"*

*These spells do not have to have names as they are not part of the original Potter lore, be creative as you'd like. For example I might say a plant healing spell or a sunshine spell, perhaps aquamenti for watering. The time of year refers to the celtic Wheel of the Year which can be used to determine which magic is strongest at which times of year. I do have a resource in progress for this but have not yet completed it so for now Google is your friend. Have fun!

Antelope walked into the garden with a smile on her face, she was the gardens president so this was her domain and she stroked across the top petals of a snapping hydrangea affectionately as they followed the professor. The plant lifted and snapped ineffectuallly at the air after the Hufflepuff prefect had passed almost like a dog wanting to play, or sink its teeth in to her fingers, it was hard to tell.

"Miss Gamp, good to see you, and congratulations on Head Girl, perhaps next year might be a golden year." she had hoped to see a Hufflepuff on top, as was to be expected, but Hesper was fine.

She listened to the instructions from Belladonna Woods and nodded along. Looking at the plants, many of which were very near death, some were beyond saving if she was honest.

"A few of these would better serve the garden being returned to it as compost unfortunately.""She gestured to a mimbeltonia that had clearly slimed its last student. [b)"But, for one of the fruiting plants. I will recommend one of my favourite spells to say. Bimbilus Bumble"[/b] she extended her arm and flicked her wand to cast. The gathered ladies would get a glimpse of the new scarring on her forearm, similar to that on the side of her neck.

A bumble bee flew in from nowhere, then another, then several more, gathering around her wand before flying out to seek flowers to pollinate. It was late in the year but they would find something to amuse them here in the greenhouse. "By stimulating the flowers, preferably between Beltane and
Lughnasadh, we encourage the roots to strive deeper and the fruit to thicken."
So many right answers, but she was happy with hers.
