March 20th, 1895 - Music Practice Room
It was raining outside and so Mo couldn't go practice flying, so she figured she ought to practice her lonely violin before she completely forgot how to play it altogether. School was busy and harder than she'd thought it would be. Finding time to practice hadn't been as easy as she would have thought, but there was more homework than expected and she would rather be outside. Still, she enjoyed music immensely, it was one of the more "ladylike" hobbies she had, as her Auntie Evelyn would have put it. Little did her aunt know that Mo tended to play more fiddle tunes than violin pieces but hey, she was playing.
She stood at her music stand, looking over the music once more, for the piece they were working on in class. It was far too slow and she was growing bored with it, even if she thought the tune was pretty. Mo liked the faster-paced reels she played at home with her Uncle Tieran's guidance and so she abandoned the more traditional piece in favor of an old tune she had memorized. She took a deep breath, started to tap one foot to keep the beat and launched into the fiddle tune with gusto, trying to shake the dust from her fingers. There were a few fumbles here and there, but the further she got into it, the better it was. Mo couldn't play it quite as fast as it was intended to, but she was keeping her own pace. The sound filled the small space fully and she smiled as she hit a part that often tended to mess her up.
By the time she was finished, she was a little winded and her arm ached, but in a good way. She let off the last note with a flourish and sighed softly. It shouldn't make her homesick, but sometimes it did. Maybe she'd go write to her Mama after this. After flipping back to the beginning of the other piece she was meant to be practicing, Mo realized belatedly that there was somebody standing in the doorway. "Oh! I'm sorry, did you want to use the room?" She could be done for a while.
