Probably. Not that Scal generally liked to ask people for help if she could avoid it. Especially if she thought someone was going to push her towards something with animals or magical creatures. It was definitely an option on the table and it made sense, but wasn't that the sort of thing rich people did as a hobby because they didn't need to worry about money? There were zoos and the like, but what sort of job would she get there? Animal feeder? Did that even pay well? She was hardly going to write a book about magizoology either, that wasn't a reliable source of income. Maybe she should be asking someone for career advice. What do you do?

"Oh, I'm just a maid." Her job was nothing glamorous, but it helped to pay the bills and she was pretty good at it. She had worked in service and that had been better, but she'd gone and messed that up. "It's alright, but there are definitely better options if you have a full Hogwarts education." She had only gotten a couple of years, it hadn't been much help. Hell, her literacy was still not where it should be.

"You'll find something much better than that, I'm sure." If Scal had any classes she was good at, like the Defense she mentioned, there would be something she could do with it. "There's probably a ministry department you could get into." The ministry, while not for her, was at least solid employment for a lot of people. If her reading and writing were any better, she could have made a good Welcome Witch.

Service wasn't terrible, she supposed, it was reliable and you got food and housing but Scal was sure she could find something that paid better. She still wasn't sure how her mother was able to afford Hogwarts, possibly the fees were surprisingly low for a fully catered giant castle with four poster luxury beds and world class education experience... Anyway, she knew Kermit's school supplies next year would be expensive and maybe if she got a good job she could make sure he got decent equipment and maybe even an owl so he could write home.

Maybe. Which department of the Ministry though? She wasn't sure what she was going to end up qualified for. Well, anything to do with magical creatures was probably an option she supposed but she quite liked the sound of law enforcement. Maybe more the enforcement part than the law part. That's if they would even consider someone like her. Don't know if they'd want me in the Ministry, I'd probably get in trouble first day. Or they'd see my handwriting. Scal smirked ruefully. Her handwriting was atrocious.

"Well, even so. I'm sure you will find something." With a full education, there were far more options than Kenna had. Of course service was not so bad, if one had the traditional sort of post, but Kenna was not afraid of hard work or messy jobs. In fact she found them methodically soothing in many respects. She liked to keep her hands busy.

"I've got to get back to the pub, but I hope you have a wonderful school year." It wouldn't be long now before they would be heading back. "Stop by and see me on a visitation day, if you like." Kenna would like to hear about Scal's seventh year once she got more into it.
