Mr. Julius Scrimgeour vs. Mr. Konstantin Fisk
#1
27th April, 1894 — Hogsmeade Memorial Assembly Rooms, Duelling tournament
Some duels were set to be diverting, of course, with the dabblers and dilettantes, but spellwork that ranged from shoddy to dreadful. Tyb had no problem with these – he thought them rather the point of local, open tournaments like this, a more fun way to raise money and practise one’s combative magic – but when certain contestants stepped up to the podium, a particular air fell over the place and the people watching. As though some Serious Magic was about to occur.

Or maybe both fellows here would be inclined to be fools about their duels today? He didn’t know; they might both fancy lightening up from time to time. They should see.

“Mr. Scrimgeour to cast first, please!”
Julius Scrimgeour Konstantin Fisk

Julius bowed his head in polite acknowledgement, first to Kirke and then to Fisk. He was focused upon the task, enough so to block the spectators, the sounds around him, out of his mind altogether. Swiftly, the wizard moved to disarm his opponent.

There was a strong possibility that this had been an error in judgement. He had decided to try to enjoy some of the things he used to but had not factored in a scenario where he crashed out of his first round duel because he had to duel a former auror. And added to that someone who he used to be in charge of. Life was a tapestry of shit sometimes.

Bowing politely - some things would never leave him entirely - Konstantin retaliated with a stinging hex to the other man's feet.

Whatever Mr. Fisk had been hoping to do did not materialise – understandably, for his wand had taken an impromptu tour across the room. Once it had been summoned back and he was thus re-equipped, Tyb gave the update. "Point to Scrimgeour; when you're ready, Mr. Fisk."

Julius Scrimgeour: 13 | Konstantin Fisk: 7

Ah well, just as expected. At least it hadn't been embarrassing.

Fingers tightening instinctively around his wand Konstantin cast immobulus.

The wizard flashed a good-natured, vaguely apologetic smile at Fisk before resuming his focus for the second round. One more point, and Julius would easily move to the next bout of the tournament. He had nothing ill to say of Fisk, but Julius knew that of the pair, he was the stronger duelist.

As his defence, Julius cast a spell to reflect Fisk's own efforts back at him.

This time the timing was closer, but still Mr. Scrimgeour's spell scraped through first, and redirected the Immobulus spell back to a frozen Mr. Fisk. Tyb winced. He hadn't had much of a look in, really.

"Scrimgeour wins!"

Konstantin Fisk: 7| Julius Scrimgeour: 10
