27th April, 1894 — Hogsmeade Memorial Assembly Rooms, Duelling tournament
Some duels were set to be diverting, of course, with the dabblers and dilettantes, but spellwork that ranged from shoddy to dreadful. Tyb had no problem with these – he thought them rather the point of local, open tournaments like this, a more fun way to raise money and practise one’s combative magic – but when certain contestants stepped up to the podium, a particular air fell over the place and the people watching. As though some Serious Magic was about to occur.
Or maybe both fellows here would be inclined to be fools about their duels today? He didn’t know; they might both fancy lightening up from time to time. They should see.
“Mr. Scrimgeour to cast first, please!”
