She caught her lip between her teeth as she looked at Mr. Grimstone. She knew that he knew something might be off with her, but having sworn to secrecy by Miss Crawley, there was precious little she could do. Perhaps in the future she might be able to tell him. But that time certainly wasn’t now. They weren’t close enough for Phie to ask if he was alright (if that were the case, she’d have more of an inclination to tell him what she knew); so she felt she could only nod, feeling deflated. “It’s no trouble at all. Please, if you have any questions…about the seedlings…I’m always at the conservatory.” It was all she felt she could do for him.
