Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

*Note for Adminnies: Characters currently not taken. Names are placeholder only. though Jen thinks she's successfully pimped to Elaine and Kelly

Appearance: Born with a stern, strong and easily confident face that commanded attention Maz’s face appears to be quite no-nonsense even if she personally wishes’ otherwise. She has dark brown hair with chestnut highlights, strong dark brows and contrasting blue eyes. She has pale skin which she takes very good care of as it is one of her vanities. She is 5ft 3in, with a strong study body and rather ample bosom. She would be quite pretty especially for one who likes strong women… except she comes as a package deal with two others. Maz likes to have pockets in all her outfits and will collect strange weeds and herbs at all times.

History: The Beginning Years
Daniel and Thalia Dodderidge, after experiencing years of infertility and a lack of children at home, seek the assistance of fertility potions and charms and other related goods, and rejoice when Thalia’s body begins to swell in pregnancy… however when she gets too large too fast they begin to suspect there will be issues and the presence of multiples is anticipated however none would ever have guessed that it would be three children in her belly. Lucky to be married to Apothecary, she has access to the very best resources and manages to birth three very tiny, but healthy babies… unfortunately at the cost of her own life.

Charis, his very helpful and sympathetic midwife and mediwitch friend puts Daniel in contact with several women who would be able to assist him in his pleight, who assist in the fostering, wetnursing and assisting with the raising of the three girls and they become fully integrated into their small village, a village famously known as the only all-wizarding village in Britain*. An Apothecary he is able to pay for their assistance in kind and Charis’ finds his ability to source all manner of herbs useful because as a midwife and mediwitch she sees all manner of awful things that she has little power to prevent. Together he and her begin a business for herbs that would do things that polite Victorian society may frown on but which would turn quite profitable.

He names the daughters Damara, “Daria” and “Daphne” - eldest to youngest however keeping the girls straight proves to be a hard feat, and more often than not the names given would be used interchangeably for all babies and better guesstimates than actual truth. It’s only as the girls themselves become older and their birth order is well and truly lost that they settle on names for themselves - with the youngest of the three choosing the name Damara for herself, though she and her sisters often referred to her simple as “Dama” or “Ma” or “Rara”.

Their father remarries the young Joy though his marriage is widely thought to be due to the matchmaking shenanigans of Charis, who had taken upon looking after Daniel Dodderidge as her special project had decided that he needed a wife, as soon as respectfully possible. Joy, despite the interference of Charis, is a loving, caring and doting stepmother to the three girls and finds special delight in each other them… even when they girls start to squabble with each other and drive their father nuts on a regular basis as they start to age. She wishes to add to the family but finds it difficult to bring a pregnancy to term and nothing her husband or Charis can do can help. Daniel’s experience with the conception, and birth, of the triplets has him wary of using artificial and magical aid and so they continue to try and fail for many years - each failure bringing a depression forth in Joy though making her love her three step-daughters all the more.

As the children grow Daniel is forced to find creative uses for their energy and excitement. He starts to teach them how to degnome the garden, basic herbology and potions while he works - necessities for an Apothecary and other things that are part and parcel to the daily and long term running of an apothecary, it has the additional side effect of teaching the girls to read and do numbers and creating a foundation for their education which would give the girls a significant edge when they leave to attend Hogwarts.

1875 - 11 - [FIRST YEAR] September of this year Damara and her sisters arrive at Hogwarts and all three are sorted into Gryffindor. They take great delight in swapping places, tricking classmates and befounding their teachers. She earns herself an full academic scholarship for her excellent potions and herbology work, though she doesn’t do too poorly in any other subject, little surprise since she's been working with both because her father for all her childhood.

1876 - 12 - [SECOND YEAR] - The excitement of being able to confuse people has worn off and Damara begins to get annoyed at being a triplet and always the same as her sister. She experiments with potions and charms to change her appearance to be more “unique”. She begins to become a frequent visitor of the school nurse and a participant in detention as her experiments more often than not go awry or the teachers send her to get whatever she has done fixed to herself. She meets “Olivier” in the sick room on one of these occasions - he’s injured and she gets to know him and thinks he’s rather “dashing”.

1877 - 13 [THIRD YEAR] - The riots occur, and at first as Damara attends Hogwarts throughout the school year, and her family are long-term residents in an all magical town created by a wizard in the 10th century fleeing muggle persecution the thought of the newly risen muggle discontent effecting her in any way is negligible. This however isn’t the case as her small village’s population explodes as outcast wizarding families flock to the all-magical village of Hogsmeade. The migration helps their father’s business to thrive and diversify and his clientele’s numbers increase to never before seen amounts and he is forced to hire additional employees to meet demand and Damara begins to conceive of a possibility of taking the business over from him and decides on her own future path - She wishes to become an Apothecary. The downside however is that the face of the village that they had spent their lives in is changed forever and that community that they had built suffers and no longer do they know the name of everyone in the village.

That year she adds the subjects of Ancient Studies, Divination and Earth Magic to her course list. Whilst researching her subject choice she discovers reference to Alchemy for the first time and becomes interested too in the chemistry of both what an Alchemist and Apothecary do and the potential crossover between the two and resolves to study it in school, unfortunately it’s a NEWT level course and the reality of the matter is that unless she receives a full level scholarship her father would not be able to allow her to attend school for the full seven years, even if business is doing well. She makes a resolution to do the best she can and bull-headedly devotes herself to doing her very best to achieve her dreams. She loses interest in cosmetically changing herself to make herself different from her sisters as she becomes all consumed with her desire.

1878 - 14 [FORTH YEAR] - She receives a confession from a boy who thinks she’s her sister. When she reveals that she is indeed not, he says that shes’ good enough since she looks just like her sister. Damara gives him boils and…spends another afternoon in detention. This isn’t the first time that this would happen and not the last and she would come to discover that her own identity is rather tenuous as after her feelings for her friend Olivier grow - she too confesses to him that she finds him “dashing” and “handsome” and is horrified when he mistakes her for one of sisters. He apologises profusely when the truth comes to light but the damage is done. She vows that she would only love and marry the man who could tell her apart from her sisters.

1879 - 15 [FIFTH YEAR] - She get a reputation as being the sister “who eats” and “always complains about being hungry” and is always trying to get food. She gets teased and told that pretty soon they’ll be able to tell her apart as she’ll be the fat sister but she learns if she tries to stick to a “normal eating schedule” it starts to effect her negatively and she starts to feel the effects of symptoms of hypoglycemia (though this and the term low blood sugar wouldn’t be an official diagnosis until mid next century…) - It is at this point she decides to not let what others say affect her as much. It has mixed results.

1880 - 16[SIXTH YEAR] -She talks her father into letting her after she retains her scholarship attend her six year promising that her course load would be beneficial to the future of the business that she fully intends to take over and makes clear of this fact to both her father and her sisters. She takes Alchemy, Ancient Studies, Astrology, Potions, Charms, and Herbology.

1881 - 17[SEVENTH YEAR] - She attends seventh year and graduates with scores she is pleased with, believing they will add to the prestige of the Apothecary. She ponders becoming a healer however as it's chemistry, potion making and creation of healing magics that interests her most she joins her father in his apothecary and begins to work as his apprentice. It is in her first year working with that she discovers the difference between the education received at school and the value of her father's experience and real life application.

1882 - 18 - Damara continues to work under her father as an apprentice Apothecary and begins to court one of the young Apothecary workers at the shop - under the assumption that it would give her father a son in the business to inherit the Apothecary as is now apparent that they probably won’t be getting any more siblings.

1883 - 19 - Damara’s courtship ends badly when the coworker breaks the courtship and runs off with a woman down the street. Damara is heartbroken (again!) and vows not to marry unless its for love and vows that if she never finds love she will be an old witch owning an Apothecary with and will have a thousand cats who she will train to claw out the eyes of insincere cheating men.

1884 - 20 - The summer of her twentieth year the world seems to go insane as a group of carnival workers bring the laughing plague to Hogsmeade and while business thrives as people buy ingredients and remedies searching for a cure (Damara works alongside her father in their spare hours attempting to find a cure as well) however the breakout of a fire causes extensive damage to their stores, stocks, Alchemists Garden and business. Further tragedy his the family when Joy contracts the virus and passes away before a cure and vaccine is found in September. Damara finds herself forced to take on further responsibility of the business as her father deals with the death of Joy and the sufficient damage caused by the fire that they’ll have to recover from. Daniel is comforted by long-time friend Charis, and their friendship turns into something deeper though initially Damara does not want to know.

1885 - 21 - The damage and loss is so extensive that originally the Dodderidges may not recover - and indeed may have to sell their shop and house and the loans they may be forced to take out are so great that they'd never repay them that it isn't until a friend of Charis gives him a mysterious offer that sounds like a kind of offer that Daniel can take up and even sleep at night. Unfortunately it means leaving the Apothecary behind and in the hands of his daughter(s). He is set to the procurement of rare, expensive and hard to gather ingredients that only with his experience as a Apothecary helps him to identify. It's dangerous work - and he comes home on occasion, often to top up a supply of hair to ensure that if required his daughters can masquerade as him - an easy task as the girls are well practiced at pretending to be other people - having pretended to be each other for years.

1886 - 22 - Some slimy men begin to hang around the shop - promising marriage in trade for saving the shop. It renews Damara’s dreams of a true love worth waiting for and she has no intention, having seem how miscarriage and childbirth affected her own birthmother (death) and stepmother (depression) chooses not to marry unless its for the romantic notion of love - but she also knows that between her and her sisters things will be difficult because it would change the bond between them forever. She is forced to partake in some less than legal practices to make up for the shortfall.

1888 - 24 -
1889 - 25 -
1890 - 26 - Their business begins to recover from financial distress when she comes into contact with a mysterious, dashing man that she starts to feel affection and possibly love for - little does she know he has also come into contact with her sister and they too have fallen in love.

Personality: Damara is a closet romantic, with a fondness for stories about dashing knights, stories of chivalry and strength though admits that the reality is that is far less likely. She gets hungry and tired easy and often has a food nearby or on her person. She is idealistic, temperamental but enjoys assisting others. She is good leaders and boss, and when determined does not let anything or anyone stand in her way once she is committed to her goal. She likes to think of herself as a protector and provider for those she loves, but demands their respect and attention in return. She is good at business and has excellent organisational and administrative skills, in fact she is far better at the paper work and managing the day to day business then her father however his experience does win out.

Other: From the doc:

From Canon WANTAD: Ms. Damara Dodderidge, Ms. ----- Dodderidge (1) and Ms. ----- Dodderidge (2) are all halfbloods (born 1864) who are former Gryffindors. Their mother died giving birth to them. Recently, they have all met the same man and fallen in love with him though they don't realize they're all in love with the same person. The three are prone to fighting between themselves but are very close otherwise.

Other facts: Damara is most likely hypoglycemic
