I convinced my mother to let me invite some friends to our family home in Southampton. It will be just us. And some governess and the servants of course, but that's as close as having a house to ourselves could get. You are invited to stay starting from the 10th of July. Do try to convince your uncle and aunt to let you come. I am terribly bored.

9th of July, 1890

Wildsmith,

My aunt has decided to let a house at Sanditon Terrace for the summer and we are to dispatch there tomorrow. It took some convincing, but my uncle has consented to allow me to depart on Monday for a fortnight. I expect that once I am out of sight, I shall fall out of mind as well and they shall forget to recall me.

We shall find something to entertain ourselves, I'm sure.
