Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ

March 10th, 1891 - Angie's Flat
He had a sense of what Angie was going to say already, as she'd pointed out, but that didn't mean that he didn't want to hear it from her. He might ignore her anyways — he was likely to ignore her anyways — but he at least could hear it, and then when things started to fall apart at least he could get to see the specific expression she made when he told her she was right.

It was harder to get over there than Cash had expected, and it took him a few more days to manage it than he would have liked. He hadn't actually double-checked this date with her in their journal, so hopefully it would be fine — if it wasn't fine, at least he had bourbon and a whole Saturday afternoon to himself to figure it out.

Cash knocked on the door, and grinned when she cracked it open, holding up the bottle of expensive bourbon. "Sorry last Sunday didn't work out," he said, "Is now okay?"

Cash had been a no-show last weekend, but that really wasn't all that unusual, for them. It was hard for them to actually get together as they were wildly different socially these days, but they made it work when they needed to.

Ang had been sleeping when the knock at the door came, it was the only perk of being home, sleeping in her own bed whenever the fuck she wanted to, so an afternoon nap on a Saturday was always in order in her mind. She dragged her barely-dressed, half-awake ass (wand in hand) to the door and was at least relieved to find Cash on the other side. "It's fine," She sighed, running a hand through her hair and opening the door a little wider for him to come in. She locked it behind him and blinked the sleep from her eyes.

"Make any stupid decisions in my absence?" She could ask questions like this because she loved him and because he was prone to stupid decisions when she wasn't around. "I need coffee first." She motioned to the bourbon as she made her way to the kitchen, entirely aware that she was in little more than her underthings. It was Cash, he didn't care.

He'd obviously woken her up. Cash felt a little guilty and a little fond as he watched Angie blink the sleep away, and the fondness swelled up a little more as she pushed her hand through her hair. He stepped inside. Sometimes he thought he was most himself when he was with Angie, because she was so herself, always — standing in her underthings and motioning to a bottle of bourbon.

"I'll take a coffee," he said, with a wry smile, "And — yes. I think it might be stupid." His smile stayed. It was hard to feel like the thing with Gallivan was stupid when he kept having fun with it in the moment, and it was hard to remember the downsides when he was also remembering Gallivan's hands on his sides.

Ang waved a hand casually over her shoulder at him as she moved into the kitchen. The coffee wouldn't take too long to steep and then they could switch over to bourbon. "Hungry?" Though she asked, Angie was already lighting the stove so she could make some eggs and toast.

"Do I get more information on this bad decision?" Angie was inherently curious; as far as she was aware, Cash hadn't been too stupid in her absence, but then again, as much as she loved him, it was Cash. Spelling her hair out of her face into a bun at the top of her head, she began to get things ready for her mid-afternoon breakfast.

"Sure," Cash said. He had a tendency to eat on a routine, rather than because he noticed he was hungry — so maybe he ought to be hungry, if Angie was eating, and if they were going to be drinking bourbon then he should probably put some toast in his system first anyways.

He dropped into one of the chairs in Angie's kitchen.

"I may have kissed my employer," Cash admitted, with a faint flush in his cheeks. He pushed a hand through his hair. "Several times." There was a little bit of a thrill to admitting this, even as he knew the entanglement with Gallivan was not a good idea. In addition to everything else, Gallivan paid him — and they could both be sort of disasters — and they were friends — and every time Cash had himself convinced he was going to back off he talked himself back into it, so who was he kidding, anyways.

"Cassius Cicero Lestrange, have you absolutely lost your mind?" She tossed flippantly over her shoulder as her hands were fortunately too busy making eggs to throw something physical at him. The incredulity to her tone said it all however about how she felt about this choice. Oh, she loved him more than anybody else in the entire world, but holy shit did he have terrible judgement.

Secretly she was happy for him; it was nice to know he was able to move on in this aspect of his life.

First, she was going to judge the shit out of him.

"I hope you're at least being careful about this?" She said with a little less bite to her tone. Judge first, make sure he was attempting to be smart about it, then go from there.

Cash shrugged; it was entirely possible that he'd lost his mind, but he rather thought that this was disconnected from the situation with Gallivan.

Her second question was easier to deal with.

"Yeah, of course," he said, with a shrug of his shoulders, "Neither of us are trying to ruin our lives, Ang." This would ruin both of them if it got out — which was part of why it was such a terrible idea — but the mutually assured destruction meant that Cash was not actively worried.

Angie spent a silent minute finishing up their quick meal and two plates of scrambled eggs and toast, along with two mugs of coffee hit the table between them.

As soon as her hands were free, she grabbed the sides of his face and brought her face mere inches from his. "Good, because I will kill you." She was only half-kidding as she planted a smack of kiss on his forehead before she fell back into the seat beside him. Cash was admittedly, the only person in her life she couldn't live without anymore. If he ruined himself somehow, she didn't know what that would mean for him according to his family, but she knew it wouldn't be good.

Her expression eased into  something more akin to best friend than over-bearing big sister. "And so, how was it?" She asked after a moment, taking a bite of her eggs as she looked at him with a glint of mischief in her blue eyes.

Cash grinned at the kiss to his forehead; he could be nervous about being too close to most people, but never with Angie, who had known him too long and far too well for Cash to be ill-at-ease around her. He stabbed his fork into the eggs and took a bite before he replied to her.

"Good," Cash said, flushing again at her question and at the look in her eyes. "He's — cute. And tall." Angie would think he was cute, Cash knew — they tended to have similar types in men, from the limited evidence. And Theo was cute, especially when he actually smiled.

Angie pursed her lips in that knowing fashion that only a friend could do. She was happy for him, as long as things worked out and were kept covert. It would be fine. He had to be allowed something that made him happy in his life, aside from giving her mild heart attacks.

"Oh tall, hmm?" If Cash said he was cute, Angie had to believe him; they tended to have the same taste in men. "Do I know him?" Angie wasn't sure she even knew who Cash's boss was at this point, but she had long ago lost touch with his quidditch unfortunately. It would only take some light digging to find out though, which she would do, because she cared. Not to mention she was an innately curious person.

She was also curious as to how he was doing outside of this little revelation. "How's life outside of snogging cute boys?" She asked rather bluntly, because that's who she was.

Cash pushed his hand through his hair. "You do, actually," he said, "He was a Ravenclaw. A little younger than us, though." Cash would have been shocked if Gallivan and Angie had ever talked when they were both at school, but she likely would have recognized him — and, Cash suspected, she would have thought he was cuter now than he was when they went to Hogwarts.

He shrugged at her question. "Bad," Cash answered, honestly, "But — I'm trying to have more friends, now, so that's better."

Angie was not great with names from their school days; she'd had a rather tight circle of friends whole at Hogwarts, which is exactly how are preferred it. Cash and Rowan were really the only ones are still spoke to from her school days. Outside of that, it was people from work and that was it.

Unfortunately she was not surprised to hear things outside of quidditch were not going well. Still, it pulled her lips down into a frown. If there was one thing she wanted in life, she just wanted him to be happy. It was even more frustrating that there wasn't a damn thing she could do for him.

"Anything I can do?" She offered anyway, leaning back in her chair with her coffee to look him over. Even if she was only an outlet to vent to, at least she could do that.

He hated seeing Angie look at him like that, but there was nothing he could do about it unless he was going to lie, which he wanted to avoid as much as he could. So instead Cash shrugged his shoulders and smiled at her, a little wryly.

"Just drink bourbon with me," Cash said, "And that's enough."
